The best way to get better at them is practicing AFTER the WOD. Think about it ........... how many times do you do them when you are fresh. Most times they are done mid-WOD after a warm up or at the very least after a few other movements. Practicing while fatigued is the best way to improve.

It's ridiculous how fast some of those guys can do them. Chris Spealler is the the fastest i've seen. I'm sure there is a vid or two on You Tube.

Great suggestion. Makes perfect sense.

My goal is not to get bigger...believe me I am big enough and with my body type I gain bad weight to easily. I currently weigh 225 19%bmi 5'11". I am training for a marathon actually lol funny you say that. But my overall goal is to be toned and in good shape. Like I said originally everyone has an ideal body type that they want to achieve. I totally understand guys that want to build eating 1 gram of protein per pound but the average person will just end up putting it on as fat because your body will store it.

My goal right now is to maintain my strength and fitness into my 40's and keep the injuries to a minimum. Since I started late with the whole family thing I need to make sure I'm healthy to chase kids around.

My sports (or hobbies at this point since there is 0 competition) are mountain biking and snowboarding. I've been kicking around the idea of jumping back into BJJ or kickboxing for fun but this might conflict with the no injury thing as I tend to be competitive at those two.

Excess protein *CAN* get converted to fat (just like any other excess calories) but lean meats are not very calorie dense and the culprit usually lies elsewhere. (The dynamic duo of empty simple carbs and fat)

My current workouts include swimming laps 2x wk running/biking/spinning/weights/resistance. Usually bike 40 miles a week both mountain and streets.

Drop the 10 or so lbs I gained over the holidays. Most of that will come right off since there aren't 25 bowls of M&M's in the house

For you guys who use kettlebells I did something interesting a week or so ago. Took two air filled balance pods, set them next to each other (but not touching) one foot per pod, and did sets of 20 cleans per arm with a 35lb bell. Pretty nifty and adds a whole new element to the clean.. similar to one leg dead lifts on solid ground vs. on a foam pad
