He's actually a Pittsburgh native and will be one of the first to play at a new venue here (Stage AE) in a few days; I'm quite excited for it .

I'll listen to more of their stuff, just cited TNT/BIB as the sound you associate with the college bar scene in the US. And I wasn't making blanket statements about his talent. I actually didn't say he wasn't talented. I just said he wasn't the only one who can sing like him and that I see a lot of good vocalists and bands who embody the same energy from what I've seen in the shows of theirs I've seen on youtube/dvds. There are certain musicians that no one can replicate, some of whom I've already mentioned. I was just saying I don't think Bon Scott is one of them. But yeah, I've never been to one of their concerts so I don't know first hand.

I've listened to more than one of these "songs" bro, and I still find it hard to listen to. In fact, it further drives my opinion hip-hop is pure crap, driven by a culture that upholds mediocrity in favor of perception and animalistic modes of behavior. I cannot find one redeeming thing about this guy Kanye, or the entire genre. And I, like you, am endlessly curious. I struggle to understand how anyone finds anything remotely interesting in this moronic music. If it is just drone music for the dumb masses, to give them something to pacify themselves; I guess I get it. But for anyone who deeply appreciates music, I don't get it.

There are genre's that I cannot stand to listen to, but I appreciate because of the actual construct of the music. But the drivel of this guy, and the people like him; no way.

And anyone who doesn't like hip hop, listen to this as well. Though I expect most of you to say "that isn't hip hop".

Oh brother...

Yet another example of giving simpletons a venue to make their stupid hand gestures, provide duck faces, and reinforce their membership in the scissor hand mafia.

Really?

Those guys look like a group of mouth breathers that went OD on their med's, and their butchering of another, talent laden genre from another era is really disheartening.

Sampling, and turn tables... Shoot me now...

Sorry bro... I'm trying to "get it" because I know you are a talented musician; so I'm trying to see what you could possibly see in this stuff. And I'm just not getting it.

I still don't see it. Bon Scott if uninspired and talentless has a voice and timing that only AC/DC can do. Yes drunk in a bar some hack band can sing the lyrics but no way it's close without being slammed on 5 double Grey Goose. I listened to Kanye's Mama tribute and while the lyrics are cool and inspired by the death of his mom which is sad have you truly listened to the beatbox behind him? You are comparing musicians to lyricists. I told you I like rap more than most I know. I like almost every music there is. CSNY to ABBA you will be hard pressed to find a genre I won't listen to loud when I am in the mood but he doesn't have music being played behind him.

Groups of that era and earlier like LZ can be covered over and over again but will never be the original. People cover them because people LOVE them. When is the last time you heard a Kanye cover band? These sounds stand the test of time and in 30 years I will still be listening to them. My nephew has listened to AC/DC and the rest of this phenomanal era since he was 10 and my 10 year old son has them on his itouch as well. This is a 3-4 generation type of music that no one can deny is fantastic. Kanye's music will die when he stops pulling stunts like the Grammy's. No one will ever cover his music. Beastie Boys are played more in one night across our country than Kanye will ever be played by others in the years to come. Talentless ? No, fun and people just love their style. My parents will dance to "Shook me all night long" at 67 but will wonder what the Hell is this if Kanye comes on.

I don't care what other's listen to ever. I just don't think he should be grouped with musicians when he's a lyric's guy. I'd also be shocked if he writes his own stuff. I can just visualize him sitting next to his pool with his posse and having someone hand him a new song on a Ipad with him throwing the Ipad in the pool and yelling get this Shit out of here

Thank you for showing a tangible example of "talent".

Thank you.

Like water skier above me this is what I believe...

Just for posterity, I did not intend to imply a lack of talent on anyones part, just to imply that there is more to music than lyrics. In most cases I don't enjoy listening to music with lyrics. For me its more about the intention and movement.

The music industry is so diverse that it can not possibly be solved. It is constantly in motion and if you believe it to ever be in trouble than you don't understand the meaning of what music truly is.

Not that I am a fan of either of these songs, but the talent that it takes to sing these is way more than talking into the mic.

YouTube - Angel Baby - Rosie & The Originals
YouTube - Sarah Brightman & Antonio Banderas - The Phantom Of The Oper

I would love to see Nicki Minaj try to sing like Sarah Brightman.

Despite everything Choke just said, that was awesome! I could care less who the musician is as a person but if the music he/she makes sounds good to my ears and taps into how I'm feeling that day, it's a winner for me. Simple as that.

Too much to say, too little time. The easiest way I can describe my liking of hip hop compared to my liking of other genres is the rawness, or heaviness, that exists. The rawness of Nicki Minaj's verse in Monster. The rawness of Page's main riff in No Quarter. The rawness of Rachmaninoff's prelude or Moonlight Sonata. There's just a weight and an intensity to all those pieces and I can't really convince you of it unless you feel it by yourself.

But watch the video, if for no other reason than the AWESOME 1993 Tatra MTX he drives in the beginning or the almost naked Selita Ebanks throughout the entire vid.

EDIT: And he DEFINITELY writes his own stuff. He's not Taylor Swift lol.

EDIT 2: Was just listening to Bach's Prelude and Fugue No. 1 in C major, BWV 846 and it reminded me of how beautiful it was. But I also think Family Business or Thugz Mansion by Nas/Tupac is equally beautiful. Sorry for more examples, but I think it's important to note how beauty in music can exist anywhere, like I've said repeatedly.

Here it is if anyone wants to hear it. Listen to the lyrics.
