Chris I've been thinking the same way. I also don't think that the new M3 has the stigma of older M3's as being a "teenager's" car. I don't know many teens that can spend nearly 70K on a car. I'd definitely look into a GTR as well they are incredible cars.

I can remember seeing a few E46's with Teen drivers but those could be had significantly cheaper when they first came out than the newer variants.

Oops, I should've typed "parents buying their teens E9x M3s." I haven't seen that many E9x M3s around, but all but once they were teen drivers. Most recently I saw a guy (grown man) in an E93 (is that the right # for the vert?)

That scares me. Not the case at all in Houston but I guess Houston isn't everywhere now is it.

My apartment complex has a few business offices in it and one of the guys just traded in his 9974S for a 997S. Same color, one of the 100000000000000 different blues that porsche offers.

So I finally drove the M3 today...

The good: Nice sound, well made, very comfy (even on 19s), love the short shifter and the steering

The bad: Not much - a little light in the torque department.

It's pretty much what I expected, but I think (duh) that I'll REALLY miss my 911 if I trade it. My wife pointed out something very astute - when I drove the RS4 for the first time, I was saying, "Yep, let's do this" and traded my 997.1 S in for the RS4 on the spot. The M3 just doesn't have that "oomph" I'd want to replace my C4S. It would be a great second car (daily?) but I can't bring myself to part with the 911. Looks like I'll ride this one out (what a shame, huh?) and get another P-car to order in a couple years....
