I'd personally never do skill lifts (like olympic lifts) or more "dangerous" lifts (deads) in a high intensity style workout. Too much bad potential.

I'm almost sounding like an xfit hater which I'm not. I like their all round fitness philosophy. I've always believed in being strong but also able to run to catch a bus without having a heart attack. I just wince when I see some of the vids and hope it truly isn't what happens to regular joe's who go in to get in shape.
Don't worry about the vids you hater - I think we all cringe when bad form is used - employ the good form you know. It's not as if max weights are used during met cons, some prescribed weights may seem heavy but every athlete can scale to what they know they can rep.

Team WOD today. We killed it. First by nearly 4 minutes. Our time was 29:58. The final 1200 was brutal. My calf was cramping so badly.

Way to go, Ben!! I haven't done a "team" WOD yet but I look forward to doing one soon.

Wah Wah Wah...don't knock it until you've tried it. I was a skeptic before until I tried it and now I'm hooked.

Ok I'm coming up to check this out.
800m 400m 200m runs.
3 minutes of rest.
Leaves about 3 minutes for a whole lot of pushups and kb springs.

Ive got to check out your routine for sure.

Have you tried Crossfit Yon? First sessions are typically free. I'd bet money there is one within 5 miles of your place. Give it a go ........... You'd make that spin class your bitch after a month of Crossfit. Those little sketches will get you into the best shape you've ever been in. Guaranteed.

Crossfit is an incredible program, but like any franchised program, don't think for a second there are not ways to get in equivalent if not better shape. I am not a trainer and by no means am I in "SoCal" shape but I will say for people who have been doing varied-regimen circuit training in different fashions with more challenging exercises, Crossfit really is not the end all.

The one thing I have noticed just perusing some of the sites is that it seems not every gym varies the weightlifting as much - meaning I see some gyms that only do high rep/low weight rather than changing methods more frequently? I imagine this simply reflects the desires of the gym owner? Some programs look SICK, others kinda meh.
