PDK itself is ok. i liked it in the Panamera S i had. worked flawless. a daily 4 door sedan with V8 low-end torque matches the PDK perfectly.

never like PDK in 911. both in 997 & 991. just doesn't make sense for my need. i'm glad i can make my decision & save 4k. ordering a MT soon!

My Panamera PDK is pretty slow but if you have the happy peddle to the floor it is quite fast. i. e. the tranny shifts faster knowing that your are hammering the throttle.

As for the e60 M5 SMG I liked it a lot. It was quirky and required the driver to manipulate the throttle to make it smooth and if you had the throttle slammed it would whack into the next gear causing the whole car to shudder.
i haven't figured out the pre-cog thing yet. i just thought it's funny i can up shift & down shift by pushing the opposite paddle. nothing i've experienced before.

let`s put it this way

among the auto/double clutch cars the PDK is by far the best,..nothing comes close

the F1 trannies are simply on another level and designed with different concepts/aims

and since Porsche knows that they also offer the MT for more involving, rewarding and exciting driving,..there is a reason why the RS cars have no PDK (yet)

the super fast trannies on exotics are specd for a car life mostly at weekends, short stints after work etc
the PDK is a everyday, for everyone and your Mama, solution that should be durable and quick at the same time - and it is
at least for the peeps coming from non exotics the PDK is beyond awesome compared to DCT,MCT,R-tronic etc

So much to say here but im just still stuck on the fact that some people can like ANYTHING better on that Maseratti. The ride and drive 991 event we went to had that car and it was by far the worst of everything we drove. Just my opinion. Forget the 911 the new 650 BMW was more fun to drive as was the Merc C63. But anyways IMO again the new PDK on the 991 and the 981 are SOOOO much better and so much faster than the stick it's just ridiculous. And to thsoe saying BMWs DCT is better on teh M3 I dont know what the heck you are talking about. My wife has a DCT M3. It's "nice" I "like" it but it is no way even close to the OLD PDK!

+1. The Mas handled like a S Class. I was shocked how badly it felt 'round the corners and on braking. Track like conditions really highlight where a car excells and where it's weak. But in normal driving like conditions, most people will never know those issues.

Anyways. Each one of us gets excited about different things. Good thing there's choices eh?

I would never buy a sports car with two pedals.

Of course, you drove the standard, automatic transmission car, which is a completely different car compared to my much more sporty 2009 S F1. I also would not buy that car. Both the Merc C63 and new BMW 650 are much less sporty than my car, which drives like a big and somewhat softer F430.

Because most have the notion that if they get you on the lot they can sell you beat into their heads by management

+1. Prefer the Maserati without a doubt. In my opinion, Porsches have become emotionless for the most part. I also am not wild about PDK due to the delay in shifting I have noticed.

So basically you'll never buy a modern day Ferrari, Lamborghini or for that matter, many other cars?

Ok. Got it. Do you still have one of these also?

Pretty much. When I drive a sports car I want to be a part of the experience as much as possible and I feel like that's something that only a manual can provide. I know there are incredible cars out there that don't come in a manual (Scuderia, 599 GTO, SLR, etc.) but it just wouldn't be my cup of tea if I was the one buying.

You never hear anyone saying "God, the manual in my GT3 is just so boring and slow, wish it had PDK!"
