Stuka, I never used the auto mode on the M6 or any other car for that matter.

Sorry man.
There's a reason that even though I am mr car add, I can count in one hand how many cars I have actually bought from dealers in LA.

They almost all suck. The most recent example being one dealer trying to steal my EVA money with the CTSV wagon, and another trying to force me to order an autotragic CTSV wagon. But it goes back as far as 2002 M3 where a dealer 60 miles away from me LIED to get me to go there to order an M3 at our agreed price, then insists that I load it up so he can make up the margin. Just say you can't do the damn deal, OK, don't waste my time like this.

OK, so what's wrong with S5 or S6 mode? I really am curious.

The lag time is way too long on the fastest setting.

I believe that is how yours was, but that is just not how I remembered mine. At the track, in S6 mode, the shift was so fast and the loud BANG sound in each gear really had me worried that I was going to go home on a tow truck.

Don't know what to tell you. I am pretty sure Ara's experience is more like mine than yours too with S5 and S6.

This is why I think the pre-cog feature on the McLaren is so neat. You can feel the car get ready for your command to shift and then as soon as you pull the trigger it shifts.

My Panamera PDK is pretty slow but if you have the happy peddle to the floor it is quite fast. i. e. the tranny shifts faster knowing that your are hammering the throttle.

As for the e60 M5 SMG I liked it a lot. It was quirky and required the driver to manipulate the throttle to make it smooth and if you had the throttle slammed it would whack into the next gear causing the whole car to shudder.

The SMG I & II are great gearboxes so long that you are ripping through the gears at redline. Otherwise, they're pretty laggy.

Bottom line for me, nothing beats a well designed manual.

Bought a 2009 C4S PDK. Sold it a year later and have since bought three manual 997's. PDK is very boring to me.

Never been a fan of PDK, it to much of a compromise in driver involvement for me.
Of the cars I've driven, I would say Ferrari and Maserati seem to of got it better.
