PDK - Am I the only one who thinks it sucks?

No need to rip the guy for his English... I think he write in it pretty damn well considering it's most likely not his first language.
How many foreign-speaking forums are you on, and how fluently are you able to communicate?

Exactly. What's even funnier is that if he was "pro-PDK" it would never have been mentioned..

I completely agree. My dad's turbo s does the same exact thing! You can pull the paddle but there is a pause between when you pull it and when the car actually shifts. Don't get me wrong, when it does shift it is extremely fast, but the pause in between is just annoying.

UBC- while the PDK might dissappoint, the C2S coupe with sport plus is still a full second faster 0-60 than your Mas.
That having been said its not a stretch to imagine Porsche engineered longer service life in its transmission. Since it's not an 'automated manual' it doesn't have a traditional clutch system. Thus not need replacing as you've experienced with your cars. Maybe some sacrifice in its shifting performance? DK.

So having owned two manual 997s and one PDK 997 (and lots of VW/Audi DSG cars), I think I'm well-qualified to give pro/cons.
PDK pros -
Very good automatic mode
Good for multiple downshifts (i.e. 7th to 3rd for an off-ramp)
Good response (I found sport plus to be almost too much - this is in a last-gen PDK remember)
PDK cons -
Still an auto
Boring as a daily driver
No feel of mechanical interaction - it's about as exciting as hitting the turn lever
If I lived somewhere with a nasty commute, I'd consider it. Given that my P-cars are almost always just for fun, the manual is definitely the ticket. It's part of the reason I dumped my 997.2 C4S and got a manual 997.1 C2S. For some cars (Panamera, I'm looking at you), it's the perfect transmission. For others (like a GT 911 or Cayman/Boxster) it would sap the life out of it.
Finally, FWIW, I didn't mind the buttons (no paddles available), but I ended up using the shift lever to try to get some excitement from it.

Chris- its NOT an auto. Uh, not even close. Two completely diff transmissions. What youre speaking about is its software, clutch packs and thermal managment- thus creating an auto like experience. It was down right crap when cold I felt.
PDKII feels verrrry different.

Not qualified to answer your question about "is the PDK better or worse than the Mas trans" since i have never driven that car (or really an F1's Ferraris out of 1st gear) - but i think the point that needs to be made here is this:
PDK - when compared to "up market cars" like a Ferrari 458, Maserati, etc that cost A LOT more typically and have a far different set of buyers does NOT deliver on driving excitement. There is a pause - its not 'super fast' and the experience of being an F1 driver is not there.
That all being said - PDK - when compared to "lower market cars" is UNREAL. Guys like me who drove G35's, BMW's, and Acuras hop into a Porsche with a PDK (Gen 1 or 2) and feel like its the most amazing thing ever. Its quick - it blipps - and going from 6th to 3rd on an off-ramp is so freakin cool. Like nothing i had ever experienced.
So the point being - to the OPs oringial question - perhaps the PDK is not up to the task based upon your driving experiences --- and that is the bottom line (of this thread). I see that point and dont have a problem (as a Porsche fan boy) of admitting that.
