Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport Hunts for Bring A Trailer Record

This one-of-60 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is already over MSRP at auction. Could it take the record from the LaFerrari Aperta?

The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport takes the already bonkers Bugatti Chiron to new heights. While it still maintains a remarkable top-speed capability of 217 mph, it seems to pale in comparison to the other Chiron models that are capable of speeds well over 270 mph. However, the Pur Sport serves a different discipline. Bugatti developed the Pur Sport to be optimal in corners. Whereas the typical Chiron feels right at home with miles of straight road ahead of it, the Pur Sport belongs on a windy race track. Only 60 of them will ever come to be, and they are all sold out. So, now’s a rare chance to buy one secondhand.

This 2021 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is currently listed for sale on Bring A Trailer. With 11 days remaining at the time of writing, it already has a high bid of $3.9 million. That’s nearly $200,000 above the original window sticker price. It’s easy to tell because the window sticker is included in the sale. However, with such a rare car up for grabs, we’re wondering if the Pur Sport has a chance at dethroning the LaFerrari Aperta, which just set the Bring A Trailer record with a bid over $5 million.

Built for the Track, Destined to Sit in Someone’s Garage

Currently, this Chiron has only 479 miles on the odometer. That’s not at all surprising, considering most Bugatti owners don’t drive them all that much. It’s easy to understand why, but it’s still a bit of a shame.

This Pur Sport features a two-tone Lake Blue and Bugatti Light Blue Sport paint job. Complementing it is an interior ensemble featuring Beluga Black leather and Alcantara upholstery.

The car was originally delivered to Bugatti of Greenwich in Connecticut. It was originally registered in Montana, and the current selling dealer acquired it in May 2022. It’s currently located in Beverly Hills, California, despite the dealer’s Florida home base. The car comes with a clean Montana title and all of the original boxes, tools, keys, and fanfare associated with purchasing a Bugatti.

Don’t let the lower top speed fool you, either. The Pur Sport’s speed restriction comes from its transmission setup, not a lack of power. Behind the driver still sits the iconic 8.0-liter W16 engine. It has four turbochargers, 10 radiators, and a 3D-printed titanium exhaust. All said and done; this remarkable powerplant puts out 1,479 horsepower. Furthermore, it sends that power through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and powers all four wheels.

With something like this, it’s hard to even begin to estimate what price it may sell for. However, with it scraping the $4 million mark with nearly two weeks of bidding left, there’s a decent chance we may be looking at a new record holder. We’ll certainly be watching this auction closely to see how it all plays out.
