When you think of the 1980s, a multitude of things come to mind. Teased hair, tight leather pants in exuberant colors, and that one Farrah Fawcett poster. However, when you ask someone to name the most iconic car of the 1980s, you’ll get the same answer nine times out of ten. The Lamborghini Countach. It has remarkable futuristic styling, legendary upward-opening doors, and a screaming V12 engine. As a result, it was the subject of virtually any car fan’s daydreams. Now, they’re skyrocketing in value, and the chance to buy one is getting rarer and rarer.
Here’s your opportunity, though. This 1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary Edition is currently listed for sale on Bring A Trailer. With only 11,500 original kilometers (7,100 miles) on the odometer and the ’80s dream combo of white on white, this Countach may set the highest bid record for this icon as of yet. At the time of writing, the listing has seven days remaining. However, bidders have already pushed it up to $631,000.
This Gorgeous Countach Has Some Screen Time
According to the video included in the Bring A Trailer listing, this car originally spent time in Dubai, where it was owned by a prince. So, the door tag that contains the VIN is written in Arabic.
Eventually, this Countach made its way to Canada. After a ten-year stint in the great white north, this gorgeous Countach eventually made its way to the current seller in New Jersey.
The video also states that this is one of only nine 25th Anniversary examples with the Bianco Perlato paint finish. Complementing that paint finish is, of course, the iconic white leather upholstery that is a staple of the Lamborghini Countach. As beautiful as it is, one can only imagine how much of a disaster it can be if something gets spilled in there. But, we digress; that’s likely why there aren’t any cupholders.
Of course, the party piece is right behind the driver. The legendary 5.2-liter downdraft V12 makes a whopping 449 horsepower. Even by today’s standards, that’s quite a lot.
Lamborghini mated the glorious engine to a five-speed manual transmission. Of course, it also has the iconic gated shifter. Nothing beats the satisfying click of gear changes in a gated manual Lamborghini.
This sale also comes with a handful of service records. The seller reportedly replaced all of the fluids in the car in preparation for sale. Additionally, Interstate Motorsport of Pennington, New Jersey, replaced the valve cover and intake manifold gaskets. Additionally, they tuned the carburetors and replaced the spark plugs to ensure it’s running in tip-top shape for its next owner.
Ultimately, this Countach is going to make a collector very happy. We’ll definitely be keeping an eye on it to see what the final hammer price winds up at.
