New Watch Ideas

I'm kind of in your position, been looking at GMT-masters and Submariners for a couple of months and right now i'm seriously considering not buying such an expensive watch. The reasons why i problably won't buy are for example, most people will assume it's a cheap knock-off from China, you will have to explain and justify why you wear such an expensive watch at young age all the time (or at least where i'm from).
That doesen't mean you have to buy a POS nike watch, you can buy a Seiko diver for 150-200, and if you wan't something more classy a vintage Omega Seamaster for around the same amount. Or buy both and have a solid good looking beater and a cool vintage.

Yeah, but honestly I don't give a shit if people think my watch is fake or not. I am not buying it to impress anyone, it is a present to myself for a great accomplishment I have achieved. I have just always been a fan of Rolex and now that I can afford one I feel like I should treat myself to one for the hard work. Just how I feel about it right now.

Alex, that is something I have thought about but I remember reading earlier somewhere on this forum that TAG isn't the best watch to buy because they said they always had problems with theirs. Although, I do like one of the Tag Carrera's so maybe that will become an option again.

I'm not trying to be rude, but if you weren't able to comfortably afford the 5K-10K (which is quite a big margin, you're talking double) before reaching your accomplishment, then I think you're spending beyond your means.
Treat yourself to something that you could've purchased easily before hitting that goal, yet never was able to pull the trigger.

A few thoughts;
Any TAG purchased brand new will be worth about 40% of what you paid for it the minute you walk out the door with it.
A Rolex gmt/sub will be worth almost as much as you paid for it as long you own it.
A sub/gmt will be a watch you can own for your entire life.
A TAG will be a watch that you may wear for 5 years....maybe....
