Mr Kram, have you seen this trailer yet? Jiro Dreams of Sushi
i suspect we will both vote it one of the greatest movies of all-time
(keep your eyes open as it will probably have a limited release)

no. it had the reputation of being "tokyo japanese only" (i had a female friend, from norther Japan, who tried to go, and they would not accept her reservation b/c she didn't speak 'tokyo japanese') so i never bothered.
but i know a few people who have gone now so i guess he's getting soft in his old age

(from what i hear - the symbiotic nature of rice/fish is magical - but the meal is $300 and it's over in 30 minutes)

Going to take a quick sushi break this Saturday when the MIL will be watching our kids, so can't make it to Kabuki.
I was thinking about Sushi Zo on the Westside, but does anyone have any recommendation for the Westside? Not looking for Urzawa level, but anything like Kabuki would be perfect, on the Westside...
Great, was also thinking of Mori, but apparently the Chef sold the place in March and now the food sucks. Ugh.

you'd have to go eat ramen afterward.Going to take a quick sushi break this Saturday when the MIL will be watching our kids, so can't make it to Kabuki.

LA Brit, U Boat and I went to sushi zo once. they do an omakase style service with nigiri only. the fish and sushi itself were pretty good if that's what you like. i don't think they make rolls or other dishes and i'm not sure if you can order ala carte. i thought it was ok, but i guess i really don't eat true sushi. i prefer more tsumami/izakaya style meals.
