Handgun advice for a beginner...

Well I wrote the post in gest because I didn't think I would get all the lectures I just wanted some good recommendations on good guns. I understand you point and I reacted wrong I admit that but you take this stuff so seriously. The point of the post wasn't to learn about the repsonsibilities of gun ownership, it was to determine what good guns were. I don't want to show up to this class with some wal-mart gun, or some fancy over priced POS, and right off the bat have everyone be like well there's the dumbass of the class. You have to understand I grew up being told I was going to be sued for walking across the street the wrong way, so I am very aware of the consequences of this type of thing. Strike that, I'm not aware of the consequences necessarily, but I know and realize they would be very very bad.

My advice. Take the handgun safety class first then come back and ask again. I suggest you buy a .22LR first. Much of the safety and handling skills you learn with the .22 will transfer to a larger bore. Over time you will be ready to move up, and you will have an idea of what you will like. No one here can tell you what will feel right and shoot well for you. There is no replacement for your own experience.

You want advice? Short of joining the military, this is what I recommend.
Get a membership at a shooting range and take private lessons. Take tactical survival courses- some are day long, others you go away for days or weeks at a time. Shoot thousands and thousands of rounds so that you're comfortable shooting, even when tired.
Don't get a jewelry gun for carry. Shiny guns can reflect and give away your position when you want stealth. Most standard guns are plenty reliable and accurate for your needs. A revolver is most reliable. A Glock is the most reliable semi-auto. Get the gun that fits your hand best and offers the most natural line between the grip and the sights for your posture. Handguns from most major manufacturers are very good- Glock, HK, Sig, Smith and Wesson, Kimber, Springfield Armory, Beretta, and Taurus give you plenty of choices. Any caliber that hits is better than one that doesn't. I usually carry a .45, but I've been shooting for a long time, I'm heavy, and I can crack walnuts in my hand. I own a 9mm and I'm never ashamed to carry it, and it packs 18 reasons plus one in the chamber that are pretty potent deterrents.

I changed my mind I think I want the guns like they have in Call of Duty 4. There is this one gold one called a Dessert Eagle I think I'm just going to get that but maybe in chrome. I'll probably also get a huge silencer and a laser scope that will be cool right?
