The $700,000 Bugatti Veyron

Totally agree. Crazy doen't begin to explain someone spending that cash for a 100k a year nightmare.
Free Booze and the TV is what BJackson makes their living on. People will do things they wouldn't normally drunk in public.
BJ's inflated pricing scale is 100% because of this very thing. I totally agree with you. What a racket and I wish I would have thought of it
Totally agree. Values are only what someone will pay for it. Less veyron's and high end homes are on the market today because owners have sucked it up and determined they will never get what they think it is worth therefore why waste the time having it on the market.
Veyron's are not immune to the 30-40% depreciation that hit every high end car this past couple of years that's not a collectible. It just happens to look like more with a 1.4 million starting price
In fact I would think they should most likely lose even more value because as VW assessed prior to making these cars only 6000-7000 people in the world can actually afford one. That makes the resale even more difficult imho
This car was possibly an "EXOTIC RENTAL" car, hence the mileage, or it's a purist who enjoys driving the car. Regardless, he looks like the kind of douchebag who just wanted to "LOOK COOL" bidding $700K on a Veyron in front of THOUSANDS of people in the "TENT" and on TV. Little did he realize, he bid too late, and there was no one else to pick up the next bid. YOU COULD SEE IT IN HIS FACE when the auction closed on the car. The look of "HOLY SHIT, I SHOULD HAVE NOT DONE THIS".....>HAHAHAHA.....
Regardless, I haven't been to any other auctions like Barrett Jackson outside of wholesale car auctions for dealerships, but it seems like Barrett Jackson is always artifically driving the price up for cars in all their shows. If it wasn't for buyers like Richard Pratt, these guys would not be doing as well as they are, but I'm sure Richard doesn't pay the full 10% buyer's fee b/c of the volume of cars he buys from BJ annually, not to mention, he up's the level of HYPE on these cars. You guys ever notice when a car is stuck in a stale bid, how sometimes (especially on the Friday night and Saturday night blocks) the BJ guys stop the bidding, talk a little more, try to upsell "oh this is 1 of 10, oh we'll throw in a pit pass, oh, whatever whatever" to try and drive the price up.....Heck, for the seller's great for them, but for the buyer's, I think this is a RACKET.....
Hell - if that douchebag was smart, he could have probably picked it up and flipped it for $300K pretty quick in the private market. My $.02.

The market is probably softer than most people think. There was a Veyron that sold at a police auction a few months ago for $800K. Veyrons are like high end homes on the West Side of LA. The owner might think it's still worth what they paid for it in 2007, but guess what, it ain't.
BTW, my hunch is that the guy was a shill bidder for Barret Jackson and that's why they kept the bidding going for two minutes after the final bid and that's why Barret Jackson ultimately bought the car -- to avoid an investigation. It just sounds too fishy.
