UFC champ St-Pierre out of UFC 137 with injury, Diaz vs. Penn named new headliner
UFC champ St-Pierre out of UFC 137 with injury, Diaz vs. Penn named new headliner | MMAjunkie.com
"An injury has forced UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre (22-2 MMA, 16-2 UFC)out of next weekend's UFC 137 event and a title fight with Carlos Condit (27-5 MMA, 4-1 UFC).
UFC president Dana White today tweeted the news.
A co-main event between B.J. Penn (16-7-2 MMA, 12-6-2 UFC) and Nick Diaz (25-7 MMA, 6-4 UFC) has been promoted to the main event. It'll be contested at three rounds.
"Oh, shut the [expletive] up," a flabbergasted Condit told MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) when told the news. "I'm pretty disappointed, man. That's, wow. Just disappointed, that's all I can say. But I gotta go, brother."'
A knee injury forced St-Pierre off the card, though the extent of it isn't known. It's not clear if Condit will remain on the card.
UFC 137 takes place Oct. 29 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The night's main card airs on pay-per-view, and prelims air on Spike TV and stream on Facebook.
"I just land in NYC and what do I always say!?" White tweeted. "I have to deal with bad [expletive] everyday!! GSP is out with an injury!!!"
St-Pierre, of course, was initially slated to fight Nick Diaz, who vacated his Strikeforce title to rejoin the UFC for the first time since 2006. However, when Diaz no-showed a pair of recent press conference, White scratched him from the headliner and briefly considered terminating his contract. However, he ultimately put Condit in Diaz's slot, and Diaz got demoted to Condit spot in the co-headliner, where he meets B.J. Penn."

I think Condit, Diaz and Penn should all go at it at the same time. Maybe throw in Dom Cruz, and some medieval weapons just for kicks. This 1-on-1 unarmed stuff is getting boring. Thunderdome, baby!
