^Not to keep harping on about shit, but I never understood why ceramics are offered on these kinds of cars? It must simply be the fact that customers wanting a 'all options' car will get hit by dealers when it comes time to change those rotors. It's not like that many RS5s (or F10 M5s for that matter) are going to see track time. The first RS4 I ever personally saw on track was my friends and that was b/c I invited him out there.

The ceramics are actually advantageous on the streets - good for scrubbing the heat when a heavy car stops... The car I test-drove had the ceramics and it had great stopping power. I can't comment on the standard brakes.

maybe for the Autobahn use when you constantly have to break down to low triple digit speeds because of slow cars/trucks etc after finally having reached higher speeds

No, it's fine.

A6 and A6 Avant passed, so there's no reason to expect that the RS6 and RS6 Avant will fail.

Problem is NHTSA makes certifying each model so damn expensive that most car companies make the business decision of saying F this to the U.S. market on niche cars like the RS6 and RS6 Avant that they fear might not allow them to recoup the cost of FMVSS certification, let along making any money on the deal.

Someone should tell Audi that it's a bit too late...I really dislike how they hold off their higher-end performance cars for the U.S. market... adding a "+" to the TTRS was a joke as well...

^^ That was only for European cars. It was just their way of offering the U.S. spec engine to Europe. I do agree that it sounds a bit lame, though. Although, I suspect that it will do well for them, since they aren't a limited run model over there. It'll be good for the guy that just has to have every factory option.

Chris, has your guy mentioned anything about production numbers for the RS5? I wonder if they're going to start limiting those here as well?

No idea about numbers... Let's just say the TT-RS and RS4 (and the original RS6) all sold in numbers that AoA liked.

Only 3000 RS4s were imported to the US. Not sure on world wide production.

The RS4s are offered every other B platform (e.g. B5, B7, etc.)

The current B8 platform will not see an RS version. We will have to wait for the B9 platform to arrive before we see another RS4.

By that time, I see the new TTv8 as being the new "awesome" motor to be in the RS models - 520hp

I'm assuming you're talking about getting another RS4 here. The new one (B8) was just shown at Geneva...
