That was the reason it was delayed - they wanted it to come to the US without having to do a facelift (i.e. one set of crash tests). I drove the pre-facelifted one (a MY2010 IIRC).

Yawn, and by that I mean who gives a shit?

It's already been run through the ringer by all of the well known yuropeein car mags and has denounced for being uninspiring and nothing close to the greatness of the RS4 or R8 line.

I have a friend who'd like one and would be willing to pay. He knows nothing about what makes a car great so he's perfect (same dude who tricked me into believing he bought my dream car in a color I don't like).

I'm a few glasses of wine deep and eagerly waiting your response CfC.

$80k sounds about right. i would guess it needs to be slotted right above the M3 without going into super saloon territory.

serious question: so what's the beef with this car? doesn't a5=a4 with two doors?

So all the British mags slammed the RS5 for being boring, etc. I've driven the car - it's pretty damn fun. Mind you I haven't driven it for more than an hour or so, but at no point was I underwhelmed. And this is from an RS4 owner... It would be more fun with a manual trans (or at least the option of it), but it's a great car.

Notice all the hatred and anger on this site is from folks who've never seen the car in person, let alone driven it. I'm sure it's not everything to everyone, but for a day-to-day car, it makes more sense to me than a GT-R, even if the performance suffers. If I were "allowed" to have my reasonable dream garage, it would be an RS5 and a GT3.

Didn't like it when I drove it, felt heavy and clumsy.

Believe me, when I got in, I had read all the bad reviews and was expecting the worst. I was SHOCKED how much I liked the car. It felt VERY quick (esp. in sport mode) and handled well at supra-legal speeds on the roads near my house.

Again, I'm sure it's not everything to everyone, but I don't drive 100 mph everywhere, I wouldn't track it, etc. I'm not buying one (I'm on hiatus for 5 yrs), but I still like the car - I'll definitely test-drive it when it shows up.
