I forgot to mention something earlier, but how is this supplosed to be the new stingray. Apart from that it resemblece noting like the stingray. At least the Challenger, Camaro, helll even the mustang to a point has some ques from the older models, but nothing on the new stingray comes to mind of the older version. no split rear window, side pipes, centre gas tank.

Mustang uses coil springs, it just has a live rear axle. From a mechanical standpoint, there's absolutely nothing wrong with transverse monoleafs, and coils hold no major advantages over them. The main advantage of a coil setup vs a monoleaf is cost. Being a Corvette-exclusive part and made of composite materials, those leaf springs a significantly more expensive than equivalent coils. No doubt it's a shock to hear of GM going with a MORE expensive option, but it's true.

So, beyond the stigma associated with leaf springs, the reason they aren't used in more cars is because there's no way to justify their extra cost compared to coilovers. Same reason the Corvette GT cars don't have leafs; too costly and not as readily adjustable as coils.

But as I said before, it doesn't matter. Only the results matter, and the results speak for themselves.

"results speak for themselves." Well that may be all good and well but If a customer is will to spend $100 000 on the ZR1 I think they deserve to have a setup that uptodate and not using a setup that is more common on trucks. and If I recall correctly the ZR1 can not keep up with it competition, R8, GT3, GTR other models. Sure the ZR1 is fast but not fast enough.

...Wow. A few posts ago, I provided a link to an article about the 2011 Z06's suspension. Read it, then go look at an article about, say, a Toyota Tundra's suspension. Then get back to me on how they are even remotely the same. Then show me ANY truck on this planet, past or present, that has a suspension set up that looks even *slightly* similar to a Corvette's.

The Corvette's specific suspension dates back to the 60's. Ferrari's setup dates back to the 30's. Porsche's setup dates back to the late 40's/early 50's. Which one is "outdated" now? Of course, that doesn't take into account the plethora of updates and improvements made to the respective setups over the years, but you don't appear to care about that anyway.

I don't think you recall correctly. A standard R8 can barely keep up with a Grand Sport, and a Z06 has proven to be a match for a V10(without the R-Compound tires). With the Z07 Package, a Z06 can take on a R8 V10 GT and come out on top. In fact, it did in Motor Trend's Best Driver's Car competition. Same day, same track, same driver, and the R8 GT was some 2 seconds slower. Now one test does not a conclusive result make, but it's not an isolated thing. On every track the R8 GT and Z06/Z07 have been both been tested on, the Z is faster, be it by 2 seconds or 2 tenths of a second.

GT3? Which one? Because a ZR1 is undoubtedly faster than a regular 997 GT3. It's been shown to be faster than the GT3 RS, and the RS 4.0 as well. Only the 997 GT2RS has been shown to be faster than the ZR1 with any kind of consistency. Even the 997 Turbo S is consistently slower on a road course, though it spanks the ZR1 in a straight line. It may be down on power, but you can't beat that PDK transmission and AWD traction off the line.

And the GT-R and ZR1 have been neck-and-neck for years now, and there's still really no definitive answer as to which is faster. The only consistent result is the newer GT-Rs being faster in a straight line for the same reasons as the 911 Turbo S.

Before you ask, my source for all this is the Fastest Laps site. Basically the Wikipedia of automotive spec sheets and lap times. They've even got a "compare" feature that allows you to make direct comparisons between two cars based on all of the tracks they've both been tested on, as well as straight line figures(though those can sometimes be a little skewed or in need of an update).

Sorry if this comes off as a little hostile, but it irks the crap out of me when people just regurgitate Top Gear drivel as if it's fact.

I know it's foolish, but since there's still a few months left before real production begins, I'm still holding out hope for the flat-bottom steering wheel the some supposed "insiders" said was coming.
