Mclaren P1 Figures Released
#42
I've had cars from many manufacturers and have respect for most of them. I don't find the need to attack anyone's choices. My life is complete with out trolling the forums of cars that I will never own. The funny thing in this case is the use all of the icons. I get texts from my 12 year old niece that look exactly the same. I have a feeling that were in that kind of territory here, at least as far as the mentality mentality is concerned.

DJ, runs a terrific site, and most of you guys are very good contributors, but it is the Trolls that ruin a section, if you don't like a particular brand or car, that is fine. But to continue to harp on it gets old, go the Porsche Section if that is your Car of Choice and Brand and contribute something positive.

It's been my experience that most "haters" are compensating or brining about a release of pent-up aggression from a short-coming somewhere else. I have truly dedicated Ferrari and Lambo friends that would never consider a McLaren. We get together have a great time and truly appreciate each others cars. There is definitely rivalry and ball-busting but it's great fun and nothing like the doucheyness that permeates the internet.
I find myself actually avoiding the forums to stay away from the toxicity. It dawned on me that whether it was the Astons or the McLaren, there is a subset of attackers that felt threatened by the attributes of other cars. It wasn't about my car as much as a feeling of regret or loss about their own situation. For some it's the sick pleasure of being hated or the attention the get for misbehaving. It all relates to latent self-lothing. It's a shame really. I feel bad for these people but it does hurt the forums over time.

The hard part is the knee jerk desire to attack the other cars. I for one love all cars and I have owned most of the marquee brands on this forum. I don't regret any of my previous cars. I enjoy the debate but I often wonder if there is a 13 year old kid who's getting his but kicked in school every day on the other end. They have no power and are victims and this is their chance to fight back with out facing their bullies. It's an anonymous level playing field. It feels ugly to lash out at them.

I would be willing to bet that people who act negative every post live a generally negative life. You disrespect people in person and are the first to put someone down. All of the friends are similar and probably aren't greatly successful. Is it cool to act like a dick? (And if your not like that in person, then why do you think it's okay to act like that behind a computer) Positive people that surround themselves with positive people breed success. Haters that surround themselves with others like them only produce hate.
You can choose to pick which side you want to be on. I think it's fairly obvious who's who in this thread.

I have a question for those of you who have driven the P1:
At any point or in any mode, can you access the entire combined 903 hp using the throttle only without having to press the IPAS button? Perhaps in "Race" mode?

The short answer is Yes. There is a Boost button in the car right by the ACTIVE control nobs. When it is not on you have full access when turned on the IPAS button becomes active and you need to press the IPAS button to get full power. I might have the backwards but you get the idea. The DRS Button is obviously independent of the boost. Hope that helps
