Been in touch with McLaren and am now waiting on a call from to see if i can put a deposit down.

Well so far i've had to register my 'interest' on their website at their request and according to the emails back and forth with Client Services i should be receiving a call once retailers have been appointed, which seems odd - you would have thought they would be in place to take orders at the time of the unveiling...

Anyway if they require an outrageous deposit i'll have to forget about it, if it's reasonable they'll have a cheque asap.

Are they going around the houses with this ordering scheme to make it feel more exclusive, I am sure if you wanted to make a deposit/order a 458 Italia it will go straight through and you'd have it before the Mclaren?

They are appointing a dealer network, through which the cars will be sold. I have requested to deal directly with the factory however, we'll see where that gets me...

I'd rather have the McLaren > the 458.

I would say thats a smart move, being a new car the dealers will be in the dark just as much as the rest of us an probably wont be able to answer many questions.
