Jamie, I already explained in a prior response why that is imposible for me at the moment. All I have here with me are documents from my purchase. Really not sure why an obviously legitimate bill of sale is not sufficient for you guys ..

I feel you dude! So here is my history of ownership over the past dozen years:

- 98 Audi 1.8T (manual) subsequently chipped by ABT
- 00 Audi S4, various mods from ABT
- 00 BMW M5, stock
- 01 Mini Cooper S
- 04 GT3 (sorry in my prior I said 06 but 06 was actually when I sold it, confused)
- 07 GT3RS
- 09 E63
- 10 458 (to be traded in very shortly)
- 11 458? or '11 12C? or both?

My evolution as you can see started with turbo engines and ended with my current preference for naturally aspirated ones. Over the years I realized that it was essential for my cars to have inspiring exhaust notes, and just have never found a turbo or SC engine that compares on that front. Over the years I started doing track days starting with my M5 and realized that this was something I wanted to pursue, so subsequent 'entertainment' cars were always intended to be able to do some track dude. I never, however, became a die hard trackday boy, so when it came time to pick a new vehicle I placed a premium on being able to enjoy the car off track at least as much as on track.

So my options at the time that I ordered the 458 were basically the usual suspects from Porsche or something new from a 'halo' brand that I never had before. I discarded Lambo because it didn't excite me based on extensive drives of the Gallardo (admittedly not their latest 560-lp4) I had done. The reason I strayed from Porsche is because I just found their cars to be wonderful daily driver / sports cars but lacked a bit of that sense of occasion that I need when I spend that much on a toy. I also thought the 458 looked absolutely KILLER, and when combined with the performance figures that were out it was clear that that was the car I needed to have. In addition, if I was going to have a ferrari at least once in my life this seemed like the best entry point in recent memory.

Now the dilemma is whether to re-enter the turbo world with the 12C. Personally I think that the selection of a sports car starts with its engine. The early videos show a lot of promise, so I am eagerly awaiting more detailed head to head from the publications later this month and next.

Since your entrance to TS in this thread, I am sure you have taken a few minutes to check out some of the other threads and see what a great community TS is. Once you have contributed to the community with some good content of your own, then you will begin regaining the respect you have lost, I hope you can get out of the hole you dug and contribute.

I am an enthusiast and can talk or read about cars 24-7. I don't own a Porsche or Ferrari and never have, but I have had the opportunity to drive many thanks to some of the same TS members here that you have flamed with your uneducated responses. We all share a passion. Many members spend time at the track, many buy and flip or get bored quickly and sell after a few months and a few are collectors and finally some like me just love cars and don't have the ability to buy a car like these. Whatever category we all fit into, we treat each other with respect when we express our views and sometimes even learn a few things.

So step up and become someone we respect or just go away and find another forum to play on.

One of the greatest virtue's I discovered from the forums was the depth of knowledge, passion and commitment towards not only the brand- in this case, and specifically-Porsche; but towards each other. Porsche owners, have a much deeper connection-to their cars, to their community, then other makes I've witnessed. This isn't to discount someone who 'just owns a Ferrari or Lamborghini. On the contrary, they clearly have their passion for those brands. And for those who own both, it's at a level that most of us cannot fathom.

10k you had a Porsche, which is puzzling to me as to why you wanted to start things out - the way you did. You were and are fully aware of your actions and your words. My guess it had little to do with the owners here, on TS- and really it's some sort of angst with, or towards Porsche in general. You wish it was at a lower price point so it would be a 'no brainer'. Yet my question is- WHY do you say such things about the 2RS?

I'm not speaking towards the car.But what HAPPENED with your Porsche experiences that fueled your thought process? It's certainly not the numbers. And from your posts- and I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you do indeed, own a 458; but you and I both know its not that.

I'm just curious, what soured you to the point that you felt compelled to start things off like this?

My hunch, it had something to do with one of your previous ownership experiences.

Stoppie - I don't know exactly, perhaps I should have my head checked. There is something frustrating about how Porsche has gone about its latest models - Black Edition, GTS, Speedster, Cayman R, etc etc it is all just kind of pathetic IMO. I owned a couple Porsches and I used to think they were the best brand in the world, embodying true sports car virtues. Don't get me wrong, my Porsches served me well. But then in the past 3 years I started seeing a pattern of Porsche doing whatever is necessary to get the most out of doing the least in terms of improving their sports cars SUBSTANTIALLY.

And this makes me angry, because I feel betrayed by a brand I did love at one point. I don't idolize ferrari or mclaren by any means but I do see them as companies that are in fact working to earn your money (at least in my eyes).

^Well fighter pilot, you should have stated that earlier instead of attacking members and their cars. We made the decision to write that check, and none of us cared to ask you first. Nor will we in the future. You trashed my car, which I love, and I have ON ORDER an MP4 and ordering a 458 in November. And I'm big enough to make those decisions without your help.
