So today I decided to stop by the shop since I had an appointment with a client in Pasadena.

We had originally wanted to just replace the headliner with the OEM parts, but apparently, neither the U.S. nor Germany has any E30 sunroof headliner. It is compeltely NLA. So after some discussion, we decided to have an upholstery shop to custom made Alcantara headliners in the color as close to the OEM Anthracite color headliner as possible.

The old nasty smelly red carpet has been stripped. We decided to cut around the evaporator area since you can't see it, and since taking it out requires draining all kinds of fluid, wihch doesn't seem like $$$ well spent.

The red door cards have also been removed for the replacement OEM black ones to go in.

And the pain in the ass part about the headliner replacement is that you have to take out all the glasses to do this cleanly. And since the glasses have to come out, we are replacing all rubber gaskets. After all, these rubber are over 20 years old.

The red rear deck has also been removed in place for the Anthracite rear deck with roller sunblind.

The existing red driver seat with the faux leather cover is left in place for the drive to the upholstery place for the headliner job.
