E30 Restore Update
I am glad I stopped by today to check on the progress.
First, the replacement Anthracite carpet, I think the mrs will be very pleased. I had forgotten how nice brand spanking new carpet looks and feels.
And for a while I wanted to have the headliner custom made in Alcantara, but between my mechanic and I, we located new headliner still available, so that is being ordered.
The roller sunblind rear deck is taking its sweet time getting here from Germany.
The thing that sucked was that the roller sunblind, which was delivered yesterday, was smashed. We opened the box, and bits fell out of it.
I have to say, the old school roller sunblinds that is manual is better than the automatic one. Since you manually do it, it is keyed to the shape of the rear window for full coverage. As you know, the automatic ones are rectangular to take into account the space required by the mechanical arms needed to raise the sunblind.
I might or might not have time to have the dash put in, since I absolutely need the E30 by the end of the month when the GT2 gets turned in.
The good news is that the dash can be replaced separately, so if we run out of time, I can drop the car off when we are going to be out of town for a while to get that done.

I am going to swing by my mechanics place next weekend.
Hopefully everything will be there, and I will take some pictures.
I never thought about it, but it makes sense why manual sunblind is actually better. You don't have the mechanical arms that have to swing out, so you can key the sunblind to cover the entire rear windshield instead of leaving the left and right side exposed.
Hopefully we can get the correct part for the headliner. We worked with a few dealerships, and while they seem to now somehow indicate that they have them in stock, they amazingly can't figure out if it's for a car with sunroof or without.
