^Jon, IMHO there are many reasons to pick the F50 over the F40.
1) The F50 is significantly more rare than the F40. Only 349 F50's were made vs. over 1,300 F40's
2) The F50's naturally aspirated V-12 is a direct descendant of the 3.5L V-12 Ferrari used in F1 racing vs. the F40's turbo V-8 which came from its road going V-8.
3) The F50 was a true road going application of Ferrari's Formula 1 technology. Its purpose was to deliver the F1 experience for the street, much like the McLaren F1. The F40 is a true supercar/"Go kart on steroids"
- an example of this is the rear suspension of the F50 vs. the F40. Both use double wishbone but the F50 uses race derived on-board shock/spring coil overs vs. the more traditional set up on the F40.
5) Although the F50's looks are an acquired taste for some, I actually prefer the F50's looks over the F40 (flame suit on"
6) FWIW, Evo magazine did a huge 288GTO vs. F40 vs. F50 Vs. Enzo comparison test and the F50 won the comparison citing feel and overall driving experience.

Good overview. I remember that article, I believe they were surprised at how good it was citing that when it first came out it was overlooked by the press.

For me, the F50 made the list because I had a huge poster of that car on my bedroom wall when I was a kid and I've always loved the looks. Sitting in one at Infineon a few years ago was awesome.

BigE great overview! But for me I'm more of a forced induction kind of guy (which I'm sure everyone knows by now.

Alzilla, there will always be that one car growing up as a kid that will always have your heart. For me that was the F40.
