Good for Land Rover. This will be the "performance" SUV to have for a year or two, and then Porsche will debut their updated CTT and once again decimate the competition. Nothing like a little rivalry! (not that the RRSC ever really held it's own against a Cayenne Turbo)

True.
I would not really consider the RR a performance SUV as I would not consider my CTT a luxury SUV. For me the RRSC make much more sense then the CTT. The CTT lacks a smooth, quiet, comfortable, and isolated ride. And nothing but the Gwagon comes close to the offroad and commanding driving position of the RR. The fact that the RRSC has the performance numbers it has is a plus but is not competing with performance from porsche. The CTT will always be tops in that category.
BTW my CTT had immense wind noise on the freeway. The new RRSC will be the best mix of all things I want in a family SUV. But I will get bored of it in about 18months because I have a severe sickness.

While the RRSC might not fall into the performance SUV category, it's price is does. And while the CTT may not be as cushy and forgiving as the RR, it most certainly falls into the luxury SUV category. Personally, anything with 4 seats and a price over $100k is luxury...

That being said, I wouldn't say the CTT lacks a quiet, comfortable ride. Unless you're in Sport Plus all the time, the air suspension does a nice job of keeping things smooth. However it is a firmer ride than the RRSC, I'll give you that. Also, smaller and not as hefty. That might have something to do with it.

I drove the CTT on both the Barber racetrack as well as a relatively tame, yet quite harsh "offroad" handling course. I wasn't aware of any wind noise at speed. Probably due to the fact I was concentrating on keeping up with the Carrera S in front of me, which I actually did. (Don't know if it was due driver skill or what, but that's a topic for another thread.)

Conclusion: You say tomato, I say tomato... (doesn't work the same written out, but you get my point)

Being honest with myself though, IF I was looking for a luxury family SUV, I'd probably end up with a RRSC or regular RR as well. Unless I was raising the next Sebastian Vettel... (fingers crossed)

Any articles on journalist driving the new RR? Have done google and youtube searches and found nothing yet. Getting impatient.
Put in my build with the dealer but delivery date is not till mid Feb, that royally sucks!

DBV, I did the porsche driving schools also (sport and masters)...just an amazing experience. We did the CTT on the little autocross and it performed amazingly. Yeah, if you can pay attention to wind noise then you while tracking then your a true expert. Haha

I would not mind picking a used one up in a year or two. I just really love the light weight factor! My boss has a 2010 and I was actually surprised by the quality. I can only imagine how much nicer this one is.
