Article on New RR, Does 181 MPH

PistonHeads Headlines - In depth: new Range Rover

Article on the new RR. Some of it is retarded observations by the journalists (eg. faster because its lighter ). But they did make many exciting notes.
Land Rover doesn't know how fast the new Range Rover is. At Nardo a supercharged one hit 181mph but, as speed wasn't the focus of the test, the engineers didn't press it further. But they plan to go back. Curiosity's got the better of them.

Why so fast? Because it is so much lighter, being the world's first all-aluminium SUV. The monocoque of the L405 Range Rover, 39 per cent lighter than before, is lighter than an Audi Q5. It's 23kg lighter than an F30 BMW 3 Series. It's within 12kg of a Mini Countryman, for goodness sake.

All because, five years ago, Land Rover bosses approved a fundamental rethink in philosophy, engineering and construction.

The Range Rover was being used by celebs and chauffeurs to an extent not foreseen when the L322 launched a decade ago. This one caters for all these new customers, without brassing off its existing ones - by giving the engineers free rein....

Here is a better article with amazing interior pics. If you read all the way to the bottom, it goes into detail of new features it will have.

The mini weighs roughly 3000 pounds or about 1500 pounds less. Are they comparing the weight of the tub of the RR versus a whole car? Very misleading or just badly written.

That is an incredibly misleading statement.

You're misquoting them. It says, "The monocoque of the L405 Range Rover, 39 per cent lighter than before, is lighter than an Audi Q5".

Also, possibly the greatest combined ram-raiding and getaway vehicle ever.

The monocoque Is lighter than an Audi q5, lighter than a BMW... Lighter than a mini.

Perhaps they mean the monocoque lighter than THAT OF AN Audi, THAN THAT OF a BMW, etc.. Or they could have written the monocoque is lighter than an Audi'S, or a bmw'S or a mini'S.

No misquoting.. It is misleading

Well, you emitted "The monocoque of..." from your quote, which led me to assume that you might have skimmed the article. I just read it as a fairly straightforward claim that the monocoque itself is ligther than a whole Q5 or 3-series.
Which makes about zero sense, as LR themselves say that a weight saving of 180 kgs on this gen monocoque vs. the current equates to a reduction of 39%. So unless there's a sub-460 kilo BMW three-series out there that I don't know about, it's complete gibberish.
In conclusion, I don't think that it was worded in a misleading way, just very wrong.
