My SLS woes... what should I do?
#42
So anyone know a good attorney that is a car guy at heart?
I haven't heard from my dealer since Tuesday except to get there loaner car back and give me a C class.
I contacted MB USA on Wednesday at 6 pm. They told me they will forward the info to a case rep and contact me within 24 hours. Its now Saturday with no word from them.
So I'm completely in the dark. This thread started as information for me, but proved to be a great tool. An AMG rep mentioned to another member who has been helping me in the shadows to stop posting negativity. (but I'd comply but no one wants to tell me whats going on)
Good news we are at 8 days out of the necessary 30 days to Lemon law the car with 23 months to go.

You know, I subscribed to this thread initially, but having owned a merc (no where near an SLS), I am not suprised at how they are treating you. I had several problems with my E class, and I was in their loaner C class cars more than I was in my own car. Never again will I make the mistake of buying a Mercedes. As much as I love their cars and technology, I just can't get over my past experiences with them. Granted, if the car is running fine and you have no problems, then it is a great car to own. However, the minute you start to have problems, it seems to me that customer service is not their strong suit. Just my .02 for what it is worth.

Well, he's only been this hardcore into the problem for a few days. MB deserves a chance to make things right and it isn't unreasonable to give them a couple weeks, even 30-60 days to assess the situation and offer you some resolutions. While the car has been a nuisance, it's been 8 days. Between phone tag and processing the info, resolving these problems takes time. If the car ends up meeting the definition of a lemon, MB has a good reputation of doing the right thing.
Still, document everything from conversations to calls- time, person, content of communication, etc. Even though MB has deeper pockets than you, eating the cost of a unique car isn't something they want to do. Let them dump a C Class on you; it helps you in court more than if they gave you a CL 65 loaner. Definitely get an attorney who does this for a living, at least for a consult. A good attorney will probably be able to solve the issue better than you because his emotions aren't in the issue and his advice can prevent you from making a stupid mistake. You need a level-headed problem solver, not a pit bull.
I hope they take care of you. I had a very problematic 996 Turbo S. Boardwalk Porsche, PCNA and Porsche Financial gave me lots of headaches. Problem got resolved but I'll probably never buy from the VW family again and I'd definitely never buy from Boardwalk again (and they probably don't want my business either).
Good Luck.

I also just noticed if you incur more then 8 different defects within a course of 2 years or 18k miles its also considered a lemon.
1) Transmission malfunction
2) Issues with the grill
3) Smoking coming from oil cooler
4) Headlight condensation (wonder since they recalled the headlights if it counts)?
5) New windshield
I'm sure I'll see 3 more within the next 23 months... why not make there lives easier?
