Is the 991 (with decent spec) overpriced?

This is what I am saying - a 997.2 Turbo with £20k of options (same as in the S) will be worth less than a standard £130k Turbo S after 2 years. Better to have just distinct models with option packages as standard.

I'm with you on that front. I am.

The issue is when you start adding "leather covered vents", " Leather covered this, leather covered that"- that stuff adds up quickly and there will be ZERO ROI on those items.

BUT (you knew that was coming)

the same rule applies to every auto make. It is-what it is.

Yes, here either - but that's because there are less essential options for the 997 than there is for the 991. What I am saying is that the 991 will be pushing the 50% mark if someone actually adds in all the 'sports' options.

When I spec'ed my 997.1 Turbo from the factory I added every single sport option and it cost me about £20k. I had no problem losing the 20k as I felt if you were going to spec a sports car you might as well make it as sporty as it can be. So I then added £15k worth of aftermarket 'essentials' that Porsche didn't do, like sports exhaust, powerkit, sports suspension, alternate light weight wheels.

That £35k 'options' I spent aren't worth a penny today. Which actually really annoys me given if they were part of a factory 997.1 Turbo S model then they would just be subject to the -15% -10% etc depreciation that the car is, not 0%.

Porsche seems to be moving more and more towards this model - one day the base price will be just a body shell!

Back to Stoppie's point before though. the one where "anyone who can pay $100K can pay XXXX"

If i worked my life to get "MY" new 911 and I dont have the custimzation options im going to be pissed. I know for one thing I have plenty of guys happy to spend the money. I think it's nuts but they love building and knowing there car is one of one.

Basically porsche says here is the new 911. it is the best car in it's class. It's goofy fast and great just the way it is. And honestly in completely stock form it's above the abilities of 99.99999999999% of the entire world. yes even people on forums. BUT!!! unlike other car companies we willa llow you to make it more yours, more faster more crazy. there is only one catch... It will cost MORE money

Decided that once the turbo comes out that will be my replacement for the F430. If it's like my previous 2001 Turbo pre-F430 it should be bullet proof.
