^^^most people complain about the key now. So I'm all for an electronic one. Infact, I prefer the bmw, mb style when in my pocket.

Look at the first picture, notice that it does not have the traditional keyhole but only a slot to insert the FOB similar to what BMW has now. I'm sure that key is all electronic similar to bmw. I wonder where the start button is???

Great spy pic. But I gotta agree with the masses. It has to be a PDK with a funky shifter. Having a dual clutch AND a gated shifter I would imagine to be a technological nightmare. And pointless to boot.
As for 'comfort access', I didn't really think much of it when I had my M5. But with the TT, I do miss it a bit. Nice to not have to take the key out of your pocket or bag.

Speedophile is an unknown quantity at this point
I dont think they will have the electronic key on the 911....the ignition on the left has been on the those traditions from Le Mans cars...will be unlike them to mess with it

I'm sure people said that about manual transmissions and a clutch, too

PDK and manual in one car would be both pointless, a technical nightmare and probably very heavy. I just hope they get rid of those ridiculous buttons for good and stick with just the shifters. However I do hope they keep manual as an option, Porsche is fond of traditions so I'm sure they will.

i doubt its a gated shifter with pdk. Although Ferrari had just that back in the 80's in the mondial. A clutchless gated 6 speed. So its not new tech but I seriously doubt its anything more then just a PDK.....

How is that a MT?

It would be a cool idea to have both, but is it even possible?

Well, remember, it's just speculation. I slightly doubt it as well, but nothing is impossible with Porsche. I wouldn't be surprised if Porsche tested a manual/PDK combination that proved a failure for the 998 either. But, at least we're finding out more about the 998 in this thread... Forget the tranny, lets discuss the other changes and just hope and pray that manual is standard and that PDK is only optional.

Sloped center console.
