Porsche 998 SPIED with PDK, and Manual tranny... On one car
I'm not sure what this is, but these pictures are among the first of the 998 interior. And they appear to show the traditional PDK button shifters on the steering wheel, but it also appears to have a standard manual transmission.
My theory: Porsche wants to go back to their routes, while still being modern. So, Porsche took the manual transmission, added clutchless buttons on the steering wheel, and you can switch off via what appears to be a button on the shift knob on the second picture. So you get the joy and involvement of the manual, with the practicality and speed of PDK. What do you guys think? I want to hear your opinion.

I think it looks manual because the PDK now, the knob is that of a manual Porsche, and it has the leather part at the bottom, also there is no sliding button at the top to indicate the gear. Look at this comparison.
Yellow= Aluminum on Knob
Red= Bottom Half
Green= Casing

Test Car

I think it looks like a mixture of both to be honest. It has the knob and the casing of the manual, with the buttons and firmness of the PDK. I think you guys all know how Porsche is full of surprises...

Also note the sloped center console, with various buttons at the start, just like the Panamera.

Possibly. But we won't know until they show it off. I remember Volkswagen saying they want Porsche to be the leaders in technology.

I think not. Look at the first pic - he's got the key in his hand. In the second pic, you can see the fob hanging from the key.
