You don't have to stay while being issued a parking citation. They leave them in your wiper blade. There need not be ANY interraction between meter maids and vehicle operators.

You also can review any ticket online, as they get posted to DMV website, so physically having the ticket is not necessary.

A meter maid is not an officer. They can't detain you. That officer stepping in front of the car is attempting to detain the driver, which is not legal.

Not to mention, not intelligent. Let me put my foot in front of this guy's car who is clearly trying to leave, and then lean on his bumper. That's smart. I would have parked the car if it were myself and got in the asshole's face, personally.

I would not have attemped to drive off with someone physically blocking my car.

The cop was trying to hit the lottery. A young guy like him, getting "hurt" (black and blue foot) on the "job" (being a meter maid) would sadly, be set for life with the pension he'd recieve. AND the taxpayers would have to "foot" the bill, no pun

Moral of the story: Two stupid people coming in contact with each other equals a bad day. You can't run people over, that's assault whether he's a meter maid or the chief of police. You also can't detain people, so had the F-car owner had any brain cells he would have got in the guys face and kindly told him to un-f*ck himself and get out of the way.
While the driver doesnt need to wait for the ticket, I don't think the car can be moved while cited. Basically, parking ticket is cited to the car while moving violation is cited to the driver. What ever is being cited cannot be moved while being cited.

A meter maid isn't a cop in NYC? Doesn't he wear a badge and shield on his uniform?

It's fairly normal to get parking tickets. You almost can't avoid it. You get so many of them that you'll eventually learn to park in garages everywhere you go or better just take subway or taxi like everyone else.

im fairly certain that this was not a meter maid and was a city cop issuing the ticket. notice the gun on his hip lol.. meter maids arent strapped. plus meter maids have light blue nypd uniforms to differentiate between actual cops.

Curious.
He looks to be about 20, and dressed like a fag

I heard it was for a inspection, being over due

Im tired of seeing these rich pricks think they can just do what ever they want to and not have to go through the same Sh*t everyone else has too. Nice to see a cop that didnt enable his db behavior.

HI Guys,

From a European perspective a few comments.

1. Yes the driver shouldnt have done that..clearly it was his mistake

2. However, In Germany or scnadinavia - a policemna would have never been able to do what this cope did..first - pulling him out of the car - then more or less throwing him on the ground..for this policemen here would be suspended. If thsis would happen here in Europe - yu could sue the policeman..if you have such prving images - your chances wouldnt be very good..

3. Personal comment: his girlfriend is just standing there..watching..as if nothing is happening..she doesnt even ask the police man..whats happening..what Im trying to say....I guess she loves him a lot.. - or just his 458..

Wouldnt be suprised if this girl would now go to find a new supercar owner...

To me, the cop (not meter maid) was issuing a ticket and is due a level of respect whether we like it or not. The cop could easily prove that the driver ran over his foot which is a crime in itself. If I was standing in front of his car taking pics, and he was pushing me out of his way with his car and ran over my foot in the process, he would be in lots of trouble; so do to that to an officer he's fvcked. It looks like he fully ran over the foot which incited the angry reaction from the officer. He asked the guy to get out of the car and when the guy refused he then forcefully pulled him out. The guy brought it all on himself. The LAPD would of smashed his head into the pavement a few times before it was over.

It appears to be a pure sense of entitlement and above the law attitude, that backfired. Now his spider is probably worth 30k less just because of the fact it will need to be re-sprayed in those spots.

Has anyone here ever heard of entrapment, by any chance?

Also, did the cop have to drop an F bomb?

Very unprofessional.

Nope. Meter maids are also known as Auxillary police, think of it as like, purgatory. You're hired, but you're not hired. It's a shit job.

And don't tell a cop he is wearing a "badge", it'll insult them! Badges are for Boy Scouts, Shields are for the PD.

Your right, but in the city, maybe now beat-patrol does both? That would definitely be a relatively new thing, since a regular cop doesn't carry that type of paperwork with them. And for the most part, a meter maid does not in fact, carry a weapon. It's a bit confusing. Unless that guy had a pretty big hard-on for the Ferrari owner stereotype, and went out of his way to write him for something (inspection expired makes sense here, as it would be paperwork a regular cop would carry).

However, the officer, assuming he is a real cop still shouldn't be writing non-moving violations, which it appears he was. I got a pretty strong feeling that the officer put himself in that position, and I usually side with the police. I think he wen't looking for a confrontation, and found one.
