only had time to try on some IWCs today, JLC will have to wait.
1. unfortunately, i was underwhelmed with the Yacht Club. tried the White, Black, as well as the CF dial w/ Ti case. beautiful arabic numerals, and a great display offered by the non-ref crystal. the rubber band was super comfy, the single fold as well, but the watch did not jump at me. it did not hug my wrist and perhaps it was the curve and the height that did not impress me. the black dial looked smaller than what i would have liked but that was expected, but found it underwhelming if im honest. i prefered the white dial YC for sure! the chrono pushers are really nice in person. it is a very clean, classic, yet sporty watch. not for everyone and especially not for me
2. portuguese 7 days, not my style whatsoever irl. too dressy, very classic, strap was too thin for my taste. not something i would go for once fitted and tested. total respect for the watch though, such a gentleman piece!
3. Big Pilot, WHOAAAAA what a gem.. saw the chronos but was not drawn to them compared to the 7 days. tried steel and top gun; preferred the steel. strap was perfect, size was perfect (46), arabic numerals not as pretty and clean as the portu family, fat classic hands, subtle date display positioned to give the influence the reservoir deserves. just thought it was such a winner overall! the Topgun looked super cool, strap fabric is brilliant, a bit too black overall, and was not a fan of the caseback. it is a definitely cool watch for someone with the right usage for it, however design-wise and overall looks i would love to know why anyone would go for it over the steel! it was funny how i went in knowing i 'respected' the BP but didn't think i had interest, yet walked out loving it. mad props to the Ingeniuer line but the BP is just unmistakably unique in the industry so it's the watch i'll associate myself with regarding IWC from now on i think. i believe it can be worn with and for everything
4. BP TG Perpetual.. holy sh1t
what a watch, i mean WHAT A WATCH!!
hit all the right spots with the added red accents, broke the too-black the TG BP 7days had going on, the display was so incredibly easy, everything just felt awesome and RIGHT. posted above my encounter with the ME edition and noted when i 1st saw it that the blue accents weren't something i am familiar with, so this one is just perfect. having loved the steel BP and preferring it over the TG, i am left wondering how this perp would look with the steel case. i guess the benefit of ceramic and being anti-scratch/hairline is enough to stop wandering off, but from a purely aesthetic pov i am certain that watch would have been pretty, pretty, prettttty (LD tone) interesting. iwc must have agreed because didn't they have the platinum version with the same/extremely similar dial? and a LE of 50 pcs in Ti as well?!
i asked nicely for the boutique discount before getting serious and sitting down to discuss walk-out-with-it price, $35.3k .. how far off the US price is that?
