The French Rivera. The truth.

Here in this thread you have all seen the nice automotive exotics & super yachts in Monaco, pop stars shopping in Nice, the beautiful supermodels - female movie stars at the Film Festival in Cannes and the azure blue water at the surrounding beaches of St.-Tropez. But under the surface, everything is quite different from what it appears to be....

The French Riviera is definitively not what it used to be. Follow this series, to learn about what is really going on....I call it ...."The French Rivera. The truth."

The "ABC of security" .... Here is why you should NOT hire these Arabic boys from the bad areas such as Les Moulins, l'Ariane, Nice Nord or La Trinite to provide security.

I don't even understand why the shops want somebody with such a bad face to welcome the clients. It is scaring the wealthy tourist away. When you see these types, first thing coming to your mind is that you better hold your bag close to you. You don't feel secure with this "security guard". Local people know who they are and have been wondering for years.

Provence & Côte d'Azur: Police close in on gang that has been raiding stores aross the Riviera for years
Security guards ripped off shops

The gang - very - organized, composed of about twenty people have committed robberies in more than 80 department stores in recent years to record losses.

The case was in the bag . Or rather in the many suitcases found in the home of thieves. Tens of cubic meters of all kinds of objects - clothes, shoes, perfume , jewelry and other items of haute couture - stolen over the last few years by the gang.

October 2013. For several months a store security guard in Rue d'Antibes in Cannes is helping many women steal bags of clothing. Every day they make multiply trips to the store, sometimes in disguise not be recognized. But the little game is spotted. And a special police group in the district of Cannes goes into action on October 26. They arrested one of the girls and the security guard.

Fifteen people indicted

Investigators recently conducted the first thread of a complex network. Because during the searches conducted at the home of these two people, they get their hands on dozens of suitcases and bags of clothing. The investigation continues for two months. And reveals many thieves involved in this well established system.

"They had several ways : either the thieves were assisted by three guards providing security in different department stores, or they used armored bags, equipped with aluminum locks to prevent ringing. We even found the material to remove those famous locks, says the Commissioner Caravokiros Nicolas, head of the Urban Police in Cannes. Nearly 80 shops are affected in Grasse, Monaco via Nice , Mandelieu, Cannes and Saint -Laurent- du- Var. The main target of the gang ? Large shopping centers .

Impossible to determine how long the team operates. For most of these women, theft is a job full-time. They spend their days. Only two of them have an "official work." There is one who admitted gaining almost 600 euros per week with these thefts, explains an investigator. The women are 20-60 years, and most living in Nice.

Early January, further arrests are made. Fifteen people were indicted, six are jailed awaiting trial, the other nine are placed under judicial supervision. This is an issue of exceptional size for the shoplifting. For searches, we had to put up a special logistics with two vans, as in some there were more than twenty bags, says the Commissioner.

Astronomical sums

For the Cannes shop where the investigation started, the loss is estimated at 150.000 EURO. Multiplied by the 80 signs victims, the figure becomes astronomical ... and could easily be around one million euros. But we can not estimate the exact damage, because all the goods have not been identified. Some labels were torn ... "

The objects were partly restored to the rightful owners. The numerous objects whose provenance could not be established, they were destroyed. The dismantling of the network should largely be felt for many brands preferred by thieves. For some businesses, the percentage rate of theft, had more than tripled over the last three years ..."

They are many years too late..... way too many illegal black, gypsies and Arabic....

The threat from the outside

Nice, France

Between the rise of the National Front and Nice Mayor Christian Estrosi's call to tighten the borders, there is much at stake for foreigners in the upcoming municipal elections. While non-Europeans are excluded from the vote, French and European citizens aged 18 and over can head to the ballot boxes on 23rd and 30th March to weigh in on local politics.

For the past few years, the far right National Front (FN) has been benefiting, especially in the traditionally right wing Côte d'Azur, from a fall in grace of the two mainstream parties and a dedicated campaign by FN leader Marine Le Pen to de-demonize her party.

The Côte d'Azur has the third largest immigrant population in France - nearly half a million, or one tenth of the region's overall population - according to a 2009 census.

A tightening of the borders, as proposed by Estrosi, would affect mostly north African populations (42% of the region's immigrants), but would also have an impact on other non-European citizens who represent a further 23% of foreigners.

My cars - Monaco / French Riviera

There was even a note inside the front window saying DON'T TOUCH...

Some years ago during the Film Festival my Murcielago was parked on la Croisette in Cannes.

I was with a Television Team and only standing a few meters behind my car. Suddenly I saw a guy around 30 years SITTING on the hood of my Lambo.... while his girlfriend took a picture of him.

I run behind him and gave him a very hard front kick in his back... which made him to fly 3-4 meters in front of the car landing on his face and chest....

Then I was asking the crowd ( quite a lot of people) if anybody else wanted to SIT on MY car.... the answer you know all ready....

These are the pics from that day...
