You'd actually be surprised about how much clientele is around... Especially considering there are no ranges around for about 20-30 miles, and the ones that are far away are still crap. The only one I can stand is OakTree (have not been to Angeles)

You can check out these guys as well... a bit expensive but looks like a lot of fun ( have not gone, yet! )

Welcome to International Tactical Training Seminars, Los Angeles CA

If you would prefer Oak Tree and want something basic this is prob where you would want to start

Oak Tree Gun Club - First-Steps Class

7.62 is cheap though, and so are AKs. A friend of mine just got a fairly reasonable one for $300 complete.

762x39 and 762x51 are in different price categories and we are talking about 51 AR's not AK's.

Just remember that in CA, if you want an AR, you have to:

1. Make sure it's an off list rifle.

2. Decide if you want bullet button or monster man grip.

Bullet buttoned AR's look like AR's, but you CANNOT use any mags with more than 10 rounds in it. And to detach the mag takes some practice to do it fast.

Monster man grip is ugly, but it allows you to use any mag you please. So if you have some pre ban mags or happened upon some 30 rounders in the trash, yours to use.

Theoretically you can transport AR's and any long guns in your car unloaded, but be prepared to be harassed, especially if it's a bullet buttoned one which looks like an "assualt weapon" to many untrained cops.

^Ahhh gotcha. Yes it would be a decent choice but by knowing the little bit I know about Sean and what he wants I would think a well built AR platform would better suit him.

Make sure you put on a monster man grip on your AR, and that it's off list. We don't want you to have an extended stay with bubbas in close quarters.
