Here is a pic of my day out with the XDM 9. It was a range rental, and dirty as hell (all others were mine )This target was a full 25 yards away, and shot at using "point shooting". Meaning, if you can see it, and point to it, you can hit it; basically. The rounds were not slowly and systematically put down range, but rather fired either drawn from a holster, or from a cradled position culminating in a double tap. Suffice it to say, it shoots well in deed.

Nice shooting! I havent seen a range indoor yet, that would allow me to use my Ak's and AR's. Just pistols around here.

And yes, 9MM because I have a ton of it. No other thought than that, and the XD seemed heavy enough to absorb some recoil in her hands.

I have a P200sk in 357sig for the occasions I cannot take a 1911 commander. It is a fantastic little gun. I highly recommend it.

I've really got my eye on the P226 E2 model. It's going to be my first 9mm, I can tell. I would have had one at the most recent Crossroads show, but the guy selling it was an idiot and kept telling me horseshit to justify his above MSRP asking price for it (with 300 rounds fired, hardly NIB). I walked, but I'll find one for a more realistic price out there.

Here you go, $250 under MSRP and in stock:

Sig Sauer P226R E2 9mm, Nitron, Night Sights, DA/SA, SRT, 3 Mags - Top Gun Supply

Top Gun Supply is a great outfit, excellent customer service, fast shipping, great prices, and an accurate website regarding their in-stock inventory. I have given them plenty of business over the years and have always been 100% satisfied.

I really liked the HK P2000sk, that was a nice weapon. THey were out of the Berretta compact, so she couldnt try that out, but did find one she really liked.

The Springfield Armory XD9 service was her overall choice. She could reach the slide release after a few tries to familiarize herself with it, and by the time she was done was racking and releasing with ease (yes, I did find it quite hot...) Fit her hand quite well, wasnt over sized, and had a good weight to it, so recoil should be manageable for her.

Anyone have any experience with them? I know they make some fierce 1911's, and M14's but havent heard much beyond that. A quick search on Calguns found a lot of positive feedback. Not only that, at 579, leaves room in the budget for a AR for her. :-)

Maybe you already said it and I just missed it, did you get a chance to shoot all of them or were you just checking them out at the counter? During our search the HK seemed nice in the hand but it really shined the most while shooting it. As I mentioned it's a surprisingly smooth shooter which really won over my wife since she felt she could control it and wasn't intimidated by it.

For example, you would expect the 26oz aluminum frame Springfield EMP (another nice pistol worth checking out) to have less felt recoil than the 21oz polymer P2000SK, but upon shooting the HK was noticeably smoother in terms of felt recoil. You would also expect the EMP to be more accurate with the light SA trigger compared to the DA/SA on the HK, especially since people usually rag on HK triggers. But again this wasn't the case. Of course these were both rentals so the EMP could have been in need of service, but it sure looked pretty new.

We did check out the XD9 which is a quality gun as well. I don’t remember all the details but for some reason after renting it she didn’t like it quite as much. I think she preferred the HK trigger and was more accurate with it, also there was only about a $300 difference between the two. The same good impressions hold true for the regular P2000, just in a less compact package.

Let us know what you pick up, gun shopping is always a good time.

Ok, after discussions, she will be going with the Springfield. I contacted a local shop where I got my AR, and he is going to package up a bunch of mags, holster, the XD9, and the S&W AR clone (MP15) in .22LR for me for 850 bucks. That will give her a AR clone to play with while I am out with mine and and her own handgun.

She posted her target from Saturdays shoot on her cubicle wall, and tells me every day her group will be better next time. I am in love......

That MP15 looks like fun to shoot paper targets with, have you shot it? I kind of want one now...
