Looking for workhorse AR 15

'boot' sits lower on the shoulder as you elevate the gun. consequently, the gun sits higher up toward the face, making for less head and neck cranking, better target acquisition, and a shorter time to rounds fired.
the SIG also has a 'boot' buttstock
the SIG also has a 'boot' buttstock

The SIG is a great gun I had the first one to hit into the states in the S East I declined it as I find the balance very awkward even in the standard set-up it is very front end heavy and not well balanced as well once again proprietary parts issue its like the M1A from Springfield great 7.62 but also you are in the same boat.

also, has anyone here a Robinson Armament carbine? looks interesting:
XCR-L STANDARD - [ROBARM.COM]
FAL? anyone have this? DSA is a supplier and it looks very appealing. it's a beast, but the recoil and ammo prices may be too much.
how about Steyr Aug? looks menacing, but i already have their pistol (somewhat funky design)
i've researched a few consumer and 'expert' impressions on LMT, LWRC, and Stag Arms and i'm getting closer to a purchase... i've also seen a few youtube videos about the HK MR556A1... overkill maybe?
another stupid question: do all manufacturers make left handed configurations?
thanks again

I have seen reviews were owners had issues with the Robinson XCR, basically the barrel would loosen up and POI would wander. There were also some cases of the ejector coming loose and causing malfunctions. If I remember right, each of those are held to the receiver with only one hex head bolt, which just seems prone to failure/problems. Robinson's proposed solution was: "Use more loctite."
It’s definitely a cool gun that has lots of potential. But for a "workhorse AR", especially if it's your only one, I would stick to guns that have a more reliable design such as the LWRC, LMT, SCAR, or Sig.

Smith&Wesson MP15 carbine with MOE magpul original equip in flat dark earth. Basically basic.
It's not a gas-piston, I chickened out in that department, and it's no LMT or LWRC. I'm not sure if I'll be going back to California in a few years so I didn't want to commit to a 2-3K rifle just yet.

The way things are going, it may not be a problem in the future.
