Input regarding Carbon 15 rifle.

Does anyone have any sort of input regarding the use of a carbon 15 rifle ?

Is this a wasted purchase ? It seems like there are not many things made for this rifle.

Is it just a novelty, or would you actually purchase one ?

I don't know anything about the specific rifle that you linked to, but I know Bushmaster makes a quality gun and the 5.56/.223 caliber is the most popular/common "assault" rifle caliber. I would be curious as to how many AR parts are interchangeable with it.

Neel,

From what I have read, mainly on AR15.com, is that the carbon 15 lower reciever is close to but not quite as reliable as an aluminum one. They can crack. They do weigh less, which is always nice, however they do not have the forward assist. This may not be an issue if this is only a range toy, but if it's intended purpose is for when SHTF, I would personally go with the "standard" aluminum reciever.

All the normal AR accessories would work on the carbon 15. The "upper" is no different and can accept all the tacticool gear you can afford.

yonders right... the lack of a forward assist is not good if you want this for a SHTF weapon. It is a bit lighter, but the AR isn't a heavy weapon to start with, so I don't know how much value that is... That said, my bias is extreme... I spent a bit of time schlepping an M60, and loving it; so take my words with a grain of salt.

I've heard of a lot of these rifles having feed problems. Those problems may have been fixed as far as I know though.
