Pagani Huayra Top Gear (Spoiler Alert)
#81
First of all what the hell is Mr Pagani SHILL? haha
And secondly..
Did Pagani claim it was driven on a specific tire during the record?
Or did Top gear state any rules towards what tires you can use?
If the answer is no on both questions..
then just lay off the discussion, as there is no foul play.
Everyone knows that the Top Gear lap times are non scientific.
Different days,different drivers..different setups..
Its not like a super serious 1 day 1 driver event of lap times.

None of your arguments make sense...

Artist, If you offer those arguments, then why would it be necessary to cut grooves into tires that very clearly began life as racing slicks? Why not just run them as is?
Is the FXX on the Power Lap board? How about the Zonda R? Why not?

and we still do not know if those tires are road legal.
And the rules afaik say nothing about which tires to use.
the Zonda R was also driven on TG it has the fastest time ever..but its on a different board along with the FXX
So i doubt it was due to the tires..more so due to the fact that its a non road legal car..
And btw the huayra was not on slicks..at best those are semi slicks..at best!
PS
Why they put other tires on it? its easy beacuse they want to be on top.. even though its not scientific..its a dick measuring contest of mega proportions.
Most educated petrol heads know better than to take those times as gospel.. but the rest ( majority) of car interested human beings would care less about the technicality's.

Ask anyone with serious track experience and they will tell you that race rubber is worth several seconds a lap. Someone with a high level of skill cut grooves into those Pirelli slicks in a deliberate effort either to squeak by road legal tread depth requirements in the UK, and/or to mimic the look of a street legal tire. Ultimately the reason happens to be irrelevant; I assure you those tires made a significant difference in the lap time the Huayra was able to run.
And the purpose of that would be...
Couldn't have said it better myself.
Spoiler alert, indeed.

You assume they're semi slicks. But Mattjs points out the wear bar distinction which means they're not semi-slicks. They would be hand cut slicks. Pirelli hand cuts slicks. It's on their website.
So your last paragraph is saying you're ok with Pagani cheating? That's just dumb.

^Show me where those specific tires are NOT road legal in UK...( where it was tested) and ile admit that they cheated.
Alternatively show me where TG says anything about what kind of tires are allowed.
Until then..this discussion is not about cheating or foul play..
Its more about discussing the why and ifs of the tires and the test.

Jeremy about the FXX lap time: "He was doing that on slick tires. Now we have rules on this power board here ok, you cant use slicks so this time is coming off."
