Pagani Huayra, Koenigsegg Agera R or Bugatti Veyron SS
#51
It's like streetrod mentions here:
Koenigseggs constant tweaking of its cars does nothing to encourage customer loyalty and has had a detrimental effect on their used car values, which in turn affects Koenigsegg directly. Yes continue to develop but roll out those developments in a new car, ask any business analysts in the car world and they would agree with me.

DD again I think you are getting this wrong. Yes I admit I prefer the Pagani. But my response to your statements was questioning the validity of those statements. Preference is always going to be subject, but when you make a statement like calling the Pagani "a poor man’s hypercar" that statement is clearly wrong as I hope I have illustrated above.
There are lots of things I admire about the other two, the sheer brilliance of the Veyron’s technical make up and its outstanding straight line performance. The Koenigseggs constant search for a new solutions, but here's the thing.
The Veyron only exists because VW are willing to underwrite a massive loss on each and every car it builds, so from a business point of view it is a dead duck.

No one can disagree that Pagani's business model has been a lot more successful than the other two. In near enough the same period it has produced over 50% more cars than Koenigsegg, the company has no borrowings and is debt free and each and every car has been very profitable, in some cases more than once for the company.
The Huayra has again been developed without the need for outside financing.
So again I say all three cars are great and will appeal to different people for different reasons and I can say this from close personnel experience. But if it was my money I know where it would go

All of Koenigsegg's customers are on board with the project and accepts that it's an on going development of individual custom cars to Christian's perfecting standards in close cooperation with the factory and the Koenigsegg family. Christian offers many of the minor upgrades for free and those that aren't can be had at good price point since just about everything are modular designs. They do not leave their customers hanging as you suggest (but you do on occasions have to pay to play): you can for instance have your CCR fully upgraded to CCX spec and they can swap it from left hand to right hand drive and so on, many times at your convenience in your garage. So what are these upgrades you're clamoring on about? Any specific examples?

As far as Koenigseggs business model goes they pour an insane amount of money to bespoke the car; something any customer should be happy about. From my understanding there's also several separate entities of the company where the cars makes up a small portion and acts as a platform for bigger ventures and the selling of services amongst other things. Now may I ask who you are to question their business plan? Do you have the inside scoop directly from the board or are you sharing elaborate guess work?

Your forgetting that H Pagani would not sell his company so that point is well pointless. Examples of the upgrades at kzegg are ccr to ccx to ccxr to trevita to agera to agera R to this years agera nd agera R. Streetrod knows what he's talking about. He owns super cars. I feel that now your behaving like a compleat paper mâché dick. Please GTFO douche.

There's no need for insults. If you guys absolutely insist on debating this the least you would expect is some civility.
#55
Well first off you say pagani are poormans super cars which isn't even a debatable point of view. Then you describe how VW could do this and that with fake dicks and whatnot. Don't be surprised if your not treated like a valued addition to this thread.

And you can't really call a poor man's super car a Pagani because the quality, materials and craftsmanship are much superior that Ksegg's

It was meant to be tongue in cheek and I do think there's a clear line between personal insults and cheeky remarks directed at a factory in a obviously absurd scenario.
But nevermind.
The point is that some of streetrod's statements are confusing. VW/Bugatti isn't going to tank any time soon and Koenigsegg's upgrades are part of the relationship between the customer and the family. If you don't like it or can't afford it then simply don't buy it.

Surely the PR VW gets from Bugatti far exceeds any type of relatively minor losses on the cars? I do not see how this is a valid argument at all. Let's just leave VW money out of this and never ever... ever return. VW could buy Pagani so many times over they could use the paper work to papier-mache a massive dick over the entire factory and paint it in Al-Thani turquoise.

VW get little or no PR out of the Veyron project as it bears no relation to any other car they produce within the group. If you were to ask 100 normal VW customers I suspect 95 of them would not realise that Bugatti are owned by VW.
The Veyron was a halo project instigated at the sole request of Ferdinand Piech, a great engineer by the way, just to see if it could be done. As for a minor loss on each car, it’s more like a two million euro's loss on each car to be fair.
Now to Koenigsegg. Constant development is a good thing; I have no issue with that. But if we use say the Ferrari 430 as an example, during its life time Ferrari did little more than add the spider and a few minor tweaks. All of the interesting new car developments were saved for the new 458. That way you could make a clear model distinction between the old model and the new. This meant that a number of cars were produced that were very similar so produced a market and a price point of their own. And you will find the vast majority of manufacturers follow a similar model.
Now what Koenigsegg does, in conjunction with a number of outside partners who have an interest in the firm is develop new technologies which when ready are then offered on the next car they build. Examples of these include both the 6 and 7 speed sequential gearboxes, the infotainment system, the Chrono pac and the tri damper rear suspension system. I could name others but I hope you get the picture.
So you could have bought a CCX for example only to find out that two months later the new Chrono pac and infotainment system was now available. Yes you could get the upgrade but by no means were they cheap, remember you have to ship your car back to the factory for these upgrades which just adds to the cost.
As an example I was looking at this car last year, it was the first CCX to be offered with the sequential gear change, upgraded infotainment system and chrono pac. If I had bought the previous car I would been a little pissed off had I not known these upgrades were coming.

As to where I get my information from, well I get it from the factory, I know the regional sales manager in Sweden very well as well as a couple of the developers who are old Hotrodding buddies of mine.
I am not trying to tell Koenigsegg how to run his business just making observations based on the known facts and in my view best business practice. I don’t expect anyone to take any notice, it’s just an observation
