+1 on the bad gas being okay with minimal care.
I've put really low octane (equivalent of 87!) in the Ducati, and took it easy in terms of RPM and load (which is pretty much my usual riding when I don't want to end up on the f*cking moon), and haven't have any detonation whatsoever.
And we have the same 12.5:1 compression ratio.
