Brazil May Host Largest UFC Crowd Ever in 2012 | MMA News
According to several Brazilian media outlets, the UFC is all but locked for a 2012 return to the South American country.
With the UFC 134 event marking their first return to Brazil in the modern MMA era, the UFC may plan an even larger event for next year’s Brazilian outing.
The reports state that the ZUFFA brass have met with the governor of Amazonas as well as his deputy to discuss an August 2012 return date to Brazil in their region. The implications of such are huge as they may seek a venue that can hold a crowd of up to 100,000 attendees, which would dwarf the previous record set earlier this year in Toronto and also mark the largest attended audience in UFC history, if they can sell it out.
The venue they are considering is the Manaus’ Convention Center which is over 400 meters long and can sustain a live audience of more than 100,000 people.
“The opportunity to realize the UFC in Manaus and bring home some of the great fighters who are from this region is something that makes us very excited,” said Lorenzo Fertitta in one of the reports.
