I have had both "real" and "fake" absinthe and there is a definite difference in taste/reaction to it.


Real stuff filtered through wormwood could be better than....well.


Its illegal for reasons.

I tried Lucid a few weeks ago at a buddy's house. Not bad, but not crazy about it either. Reminds me of Arak.

Both Lucid and Kubler are authentic absinthe. The fake stuff is usually from the Czech republic and it leaves off the 'e' of 'absinth'.

Bought some Lucid a month or so ago but we haven't broken it open yet. Need a day that we don't have to drive the kid anywhere or anything!

FYI there is also a distillery in the Bay Area called St. George that is making authentic absinthe, but it is a bit pricey at $75/bottle.
