Singer & Cosworth Team up for the Third Singer 911

The point was I was tryin to make without the BS is Velocity stacks are effected by screen type filters and they can greatly affect drivability and performance. I know this first hand from my old GT40 days..
I figure the guy that wants the best reassembled Porsche would want to know. I know I do and so would most performance minded peeps that get their hands dirty from time to time..

I know that this is not a technical forum and most are only looking at the shinny bits but for those that want to know but take a close look at the screens and think how they will affect airflow not to mention the fine dirt wearing away at that ridiculously expensive engine..

google is your friend Ronin. (possible solid answer)
Back-fire - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The other (probably most likely) answer is to block possible debris entering in, and being sucked into- the cylinder.
ps... I highly doubt those screens will impead any airflow. I think we get it, you don't like this car. That subject has been beaten to death.
When starting an engine, timing that is too advanced will fire the spark plug before the intake valve is closed. The flame front will travel back in to the intake manifold, igniting all of that air and fuel as well. The resulting explosion then travels out of the carburetor and air cleaner. A common air filter will allow the gases to escape, but will block the flame front. On many small marine engines, no air filter is used, but a screen is placed over the intake of the carburetor as a flame arrestor to prevent these flames from escaping the intake, and potentially igniting fuel, or fuel vapors in the enclosed sump or bilge of the boat and causing a fire or explosion. Improperly adjusted carburetors that create a lean condition during acceleration can cause the air fuel mixture to burn so slowly, that combustion is still taking place during the exhaust stroke, and even when the intake valve opens. The flame front can then travel up the intake and cause a backfire. In this situation it is conceivable that there is a backfire occurring in the intake manifold and exhaust manifold simultaneously.

Member Attacks are not tolerated
Don't attack others. Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated. Please feel free to challenge others' points of view and opinions, but do so respectfully and thoughtfully. Harassing, offensive, vulgar, abusive, hateful or bashing communications, especially those aimed at sexual orientation, gender, race, color, religious views, national origin, or disability, will not be permitted. Harassing communications are considered to be those that may cause distress, embarrassment, unwanted attention or other discomfort. It will not be tolerated and may cause you to lose your membership on TeamSpeed
Please tell me you are not whining and crying foul over "personal attacks" after being called a "tool" and a "douchebag" after making the above comment. I have also included Saudi Ferrari's now famous comment that was eerily similar to yours. Things did not go well for him after he made that comment, and they are not going well for you since you made your similar comment.
This has nothing to do with what you think about the Singer 911. This is all about you bragging about how you can own something that someone else cannot. There are people on this board that can buy you and your collections of whatever you have many times over that are among the classiest and most respected people on the board.
There are boards where bragging and flashing money are tolerated and often encouraged. This is not one of them.

Those mesh screens do affect airflow/velocity quite a bit, they are not used as spark arestors on a properly tuned automotive engine....

They've used those for years on carbs.
