Here's an idea for Porsche:

Keep the 997 bodyshell as a start point. You choose narrow or widebody, then RWD or AWD. After that choose your engine (3.6, 3.8, GT3, GT2, Turbo) and your transmission. Etc. That could be kind of fun - a la carte 911s. I'll take a widebody, manual-transmission, GT3-engined, RWD, no sunroof, no backseat coupe (aka a GT3 RS minus the tacky colors).

Agree. I think they should add a new model and just call it the "911". Nothing else, then let you choose the bumper, fenders, skirts, wing, wheels, brakes, engine, and rear quarters. So you can end up having a AWD GT2 RS with a Turbo front bumper and a GT3 RSR wing. Or they can stick with this idea and ditch all of the 911 models, and just have one.

..............any questions?

there is a 911 for everyone.
I think you've narrowed it down for me to either a gt3 or a gt3 rs!

Seriously, how many people will REALLY take the 599GTO out on the track? Be honest... Or the 430 Scud....really? you REALLY gonna take it out on a track?

with so many garage queens out there, the data would suggest otherwise. So Porsche isn't guilty of anything that any other car company is or isn't guilty of.

Sometimes (often) it's marketing and about making money. Personally if I had the means I'd love to have a GT3 and the GT2. Its not about what's better necessarily, but what's better for your particular lifestyle.
LOL no real salesman just my sarcastic imagination of what I think the convo would be like. But I hear what your saying. I understand that theoretically, porsche could release as many models as they like and they would probably all sell well; since there is a strong market of loyal porsche enthusiasts and a lot of potential new customers all over the world that want more choice and variants of 911s.

I was lucky to get the chance of driving numerous porsches on a porsche day at the track from panameras, to caymans, and different 911s; and they all surprisingly had impressed me immensely.

Still think there are too many models of 911s around though lol j/k

Yep - you get the idea. Build it a la carte. Like a burrito at Chipotle. The tortilla is the same, but YOU decide what goes into it.
