Barrister, these are some very cool facts. Boggles my mind when I read stuff like this about F1. It makes it that much more interesting to watch and get into. There's some serious, extreme awesomeness taking place on the tracks of Formula 1 lol. They're all amazing but 3, 4 and 5 are really cool! This, and being an F-22 Raptor pilot must be the best jobs in the WORLD.

#10 is insane. He survived that crash in a car that was MUCH less safe than today's F1 cars and without the HANS device all of these guys now swear by.

Awesome list, Dana. Thanks for sharing!

#3 still amazes me and I'd like to see that tested on Mythbusters. Half joking.

Seeing 3 tested would be awesome, but which team will risk their car incase it doesn't work?

I'd choose top gear over mythbusters for that test though

To add on some more random facts about F1 cars.

At 180+ mph the brake ducts are taking in just as much air as the engine is.

Each of the suspension arms can carry the weight of a full grown elephant on it.

Technically those carbon/carbon brake discs in F1 cars are not made they are grown.

The heat from the tires when taking Eau Rogue flat is enough to heat four houses for an entire London winter.

The reason why drivers often sit down on the podium is because their heart rate has dropped and they need to recover.

If you ever wonder how far the flat bottom portion of the chassis sits off the ground, look at the height of a jelly bean when sitting on the curve.

Did you guys see the shot they had of this last season on the McLaren? It was wicked.

I have flown a Marchetti 260 and pulled 6g turns and I was literally on the verge of blacking out. For these drivers to deal with 5g of lateral force over and over during a race is unreal.
