Lightbulb The 2011 Formula-1 World Championship: You call it.

Gentlemen,

The start to the Formula-1 season almost upon us, and therefore it is time to get your picks in. You may find yourself asking "why make picks now, Shake?"

1) Thanks to the fine citizens of Bahrain, we've been gypped a race. Therefore, I have more downtime than originally planned and am bored. We could use an interesting thread to tide us until Australia.

and,

2) In every sporting circle, there's always some lying b*stard who claims to have predicted every twist and surprise. Well, Billy Bandwagon, consider yourself called out.

Now that we have good reason, let's establish some categories.

1) World Driver's Champion
2) World Constructor's Champion
3) Best Rookie
4) Biggest Surprise
5) Biggest Disappointment
6) Biggest Controversy
7) Most Victories
8) First Driver fired
9) First win
10) Exciting or Boring season?

Of course, reasons for your choices are welcome, and will probably be discussed ad nauseum. I will also post my own selections in a separate post.

Cheers,

The Shake.

1) World Driver's Champion: Lewis Hamilton

2) World Constructor's Champion: Red Bull Racing

3) Best Rookie: My heart says di Resta (better driver), my head says Maldonado (better car)

4) Biggest Surprise: The Williams FW33 is a top 3 car (at the beginning of the season)/Once the European leg starts, the McLaren Mp4-26 is a rocketship

5) Biggest Disappointment: The Indian Grand Prix. A whole lot of nothing.

6) Biggest Controversy: Red Bull favour Vettel, Webber leaves halfway through the season, Ricciardo skips Torro Rosso and goes straight to the big team

7) Most Victories: Vettel and Hamilton tie with 5 apiece

8) First Driver fired: Sebastian Buemi

9) First win: Nick Heidfeld in the Renault

10) Exciting or Boring season? Exciting

1) World Driver's Champion Fernando Alonso (although I'll be rooting for Lewis)

2) World Constructor's Champion Red Bull Racing

3) Best Rookie Pastor Maldonado

4) Biggest Surprise Kubica makes his return halfway through the season with a robotic hand.

5) Biggest Disappointment For me personally, I'll be most disappointed if Hamilton doesn't win the WDC this year. Biggest disappointment in terms of overall performance is likely to be HRT as they continue to embarass themselves in F1.

6) Biggest Controversy HRT quits F1 because they can't qualify under the new 107% rule.

7) Most Victories Vettel will get 5, Hamilton and Alonso will tie for 4.

8) First Driver fired Heidfeld but not because he's slow. I'm predicting he'll be bumped to make room for Kubica to return.

9) First win Vettel will win in Melbourne.

10) Exciting or Boring season? Exciting.

Hi,

Don't care about anything apart from the fact WEBBER will win the title.

Everything else is fluff on a cappuccino to me.

Also, you've been jipped.

Cheers,

I'm not sure I've predicted everything, but I don't mind getting called out or being wrong (that's what makes races exciting!) so I'll answer your questions and do you 1 better, with kick-ass ELEVENTH and TWELFTH questions!!

1) World Driver's Champion - Sebastian Vettel (although I'll be cheering for Alonso)
2) World Constructor's Champion - Red Bull Racing
3) Best Rookie - Pastor Maldonado
4) Biggest Surprise - Williams, Renault, and Sauber all quicker than Mercedes
5) Biggest Disappointment - Kobayashi in the Sauber (although I'll be cheering him on as well)
6) Biggest Controversy - Renault wins races with Heidfeld and does NOT re-hire Kubica
7) Most Victories - Sebastial Vettel
8) First Driver fired - Mark Webber, for hiding an injury OR pushing/hitting someone
9) First win - Fernando Alonso
10) Exciting or Boring season? - Exciting!

And now ...

11) Most Predictable Performance - Adrian Newey
12) Individual Most Likely to Leave F1 after 2011 - Ross Brawn, after Mercedes sack him for failing to deliver the WDC to Max Schmel- er, I mean: Michael Schumacher
