Thoughts on 3 driver vs 4 driver strategy?

As I see it, there are the same top 5 drivers as last year. Given the 40M budget, you can only get two of them plus a mid or bottom level driver with a 3 driver strategy. This will give your team a better chance at getting extra points for pole position, fast lap, and the race win.

On the other hand, going with a 4 person lineup with one top level driver, 2 mid level, and 1 bottom level driver could net more points for laps completed and still give the chance for the win, fast lap, and pole position.

I'm fairly confident I can put together a strong 4 person team within the 40M budget but I can't decide if it'd be better than a well thought out 3 person team.

Thoughts?

3 drivers. You'd have to get pretty lucky with a 4 driver team to catch more than one spot on the podium.

Very true, but with points going to the top 8 or 10 guys and all kinds of insanity sure to be wrought by the new tires and new tech ... I dunno.

You could put a 5-man team out there.

The only risk is that you will lose points in qualifying.

Right now, I think you must have a 4-man team if you want to gain any value.

One driver should be your anchor. One should be a solid contender - but not from the big three teams. And two should be the best of the rest.

This thread should be closed and we should start a General Fantasy League Discussion Thread.

Al, do you agree? Can you handle that for us?

Let's just have two threads about The League right now - sign up and general discussion.
