Official British Grand Prix Pre-Race, Practice and Qualifying Banter Thread

How can it possibly be that McLaren has not figured out their grip/downforce issues??

Short answer: yes.
longer answer: I read your thread and it sounds like you just pushed it a bit too hard on the wrong fuel, given your mods. If Betim recommended higher octane, I'd listen to him because he definitely has more experience with your car than I do, but it sounds to me like pinging which is when the fuel ignites in the cylinder before the spark plug fires. This is almost always a cause of running lower octane fuel so switching back to 108 oct should do the trick for you.

I'm not sure if I'll get to hang out for all of Q2. I don't care as much about Q3, but hopefully I can finish Q2 at least. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it), I've got a good excuse. I'm going to meet up with some of the organizers for the Nord Stern PCA chapter about a paid photoshoot I'm doing for them next weekend!

Alex, don't sell yourself short buddy. I bet you know about as much as anyone.
Now you just need the real world experience. You should contact Betim and get to know him. He is always looking for new blood. I could put in a good word.
Huntington Beach is a nice place to live!

I love Silverstone. On Forza 2 it is a tough track to drive really fast. Technically very challenging. Braking points, "throttle on" points and lines through the corners are essential for a fast lap

You are right. I have four 5-gallon barrells of 110 octane racing fuel.
It only takes a 10% infusion to bring pump gas up to 105-106. It works like a charm.
I just got lazy.
The car is still running great. But I never want to hear that sound and lose power again.

I think I'm going to finish watching Q2 on FilmOn. That's the only way I can watch til the end. The only downside is that my internet isn't quite fast enough to support the HD version
