Motor Trend's Jason Udy picks the Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport worst of 2011
#51
I can't stop(pie) either!
The transmission was so shitty in the ZR1 that the C&D Lightning Lap drivers were only able to beat the best time posted by a 997 GT3RS (fastest ever of the P-cars) by 5.2 seconds at VIR.. The Z06 bests the GT3RS by 2.4 seconds.
Imagine what kind of beating the lowly-shitty (but value-rich) Chevy could have tossed the Porsche's if it had a decent shifting/feeling transmission/clutch?
More fun results:
We’ve run Lightning Lap five times now, amassing a ton of blistering lap times around VIR. You can see them all in the table below, which can be sorted by time, vehicle, and Lightning Lap class.

PSC's would likely fix that don't you think? The G1 Eagle Supercar's aren't that great in my opinion

FGT was on some old ass, slippery rubber and has no stability control (though they would have turned it off no doubt). No wonder.
Not sure how my car in particular would fare.. I'd guess all things being equal, better than a Grand Sport, but not as well as a Pilot Cup equipped Z06 or ZR1. Hard to say.. it would be cool to see a pulley/tuned FGT with Bridgestones take on the Lightning Lap.
Ultimately, we'll never know (at VIR) and I don't really care.. my car is likely faster in a straight line - say to 150mph - than anything listed there - save the Mosler MT900

Interesting English.
I drive a Mercedes, and occasionally bring home a 911, Panamera, Boxster or Cayman, depending on when and what's laying around. Along with riding my Ducati.
Aside from that, I like Red Wine, long walks on the beach, women who are hot with large bewbies, and I dabble in the English language.
Ps. Have you EVER driven a 997 6 speed transmission? EVER??

however, i feel that driving one compared to owning one is a completely different experience all together. you have to understand my position. i do not like to talk to salesmen, id rather buy and drive. i know this is not conventional, but it is my choice to do differently.
what kind of 6sp porsche can i get for the same money?

I have drove a Grand Sport, ZR1, A Grand Sport Callaway SC 606. Yet to drive a 997 or a 911. Would love to! I have drove a 360 Modena, and 430 Scuderia. And my Compersion from the American hot rod to the fine Italians. Ride alot differant , and gear boxes differant. But the vette a much more torque monster!!!!!!

sorry, i just noticed the last part of your post. regarding the 997; no, i have not ever driven one. however, i feel that driving one compared to owning one is a completely different experience all together. you have to understand my position. i do not like to talk to salesmen, id rather buy and drive. i know this is not conventional, but it is my choice to do differently.

Drive a 2008, then a 2009/10/11/12 Carrera S (C2S), then a GT3 and get back to me.
Porsche understands it's not getting there that matters- its HOW you get there.
Ease of use is one of the highlights and attributes to Porsche's success.
ps. I think it's pure maddness to OWN something you've never driven previously. But hey, if it works for you, so be it.
