Would you buy a Viper ACR??

Maybe my logic here is backwards but I think not. Shouldn't the better car be getting the handicaps? Unfortunately for the Viper racing regulations are much like our education system here in the good ol USA. Lower the playing fields and hold back the best so the weaker can succeed.
The Vipers racing now don't count. Until dodge factory backs a racing team we won't witness how great these care are once again.
If these Porsche's are so magnificent I don't see why they have to handicap the poor lowly old Viper. It shouldn't even be competition right?
And regarding the Ring record. Dodge did it with a driver unfamiliar to the Viper. This is very significant as it isn't a nanny drive vehicle such as the ZR1 or GTR. They did it in 3 laps and it was bouncing of the rev limiter. Send a 2010 ACR with a driver familiar with the Viper and I guarantee it will embarrass the GT2RS, GTR, ZR1, etc.
Seriously though, the Viper definitely has its short comings but I've never understood the hatred for it. It defied what a bunch of arrogant engineers said couldn't happen. It did it for a lot less money. It didn't conform to what the market wanted it to be. It stayed in its own class and I applaud it for it. If it wasn't for the Dodge Viper, which turned the sports car world upside down, I don't believe we'd be seeing the variety of behemoths we so enjoy comparing these days. The Viper was always the car to beat. It was the benchmark. And even though the new generation will be more than likely watered down, it should be the car to beat once again...that is if dorky Ralph Gilles gets his head in the game.

I can't understand the hate for american cars either. No reason to hate like Clarkson cause your close minded, every car is different. If you are a true enthusiast, you'll appreciate most cars.
For the money, ZR1 and FGT and ACR give Ferrari/Lamborghini/Porsche/etc. a run for their money. Sure the interior ain't that great, they might be heavy, they might be ugly to you (don't know wtf you're thinking if you think those three are ugly), etc. But considering how fast they are and for the price, you have no right to talk shit sir.

Yep. X as a religion people annoy me. Doubly so when the majority of them actually have very little, if any experience with the cars in question.
Case in point, I once did a track day with a bunch of Lotus / LightBritCarType people. Unfortunately my Elise was broken, so I took my Roush Mustang. The amount of BS I had to eat prior to the first session nearly made me say the hell with it and leave.
And then I turned in the fastest lap times of the group. Consistently. All day. With my ~3,500 lb live axle tank with a crappy interior and a 6,000 rpm redline.
Though, to be fair, I've had the same kind of crap from 'vette guys, just before raping and pillaging them in my 20 year old Toyota rally car.
A true enthusiast asks what you like about your car, a poser tells you what's wrong with it.

I hate crappy American cars. Unfortunately, most fall into that category. I voted "yes" for the ACR. It's awesome. As is the ZR1/Z06, new Camaro, new Mustang (esp. Boss), and the CTS-V. These are all caveated with "buts" though - the Corvette interior sucks, the Camaro's gauges and steering wheel suck, the Mustang STILL has a live rear axle, and the CTS-V still reeks a little of "old man" as it is still a Cadillac. After the caveats, I'd still own any (all) of those cars - I'd just fix the things that bother me.
On the flip side, I love Porsches (and most German cars), but they are RIDICULOUS when it comes to options and pricing. Love the cars, hate having to spend another $20K on top of an $80K+ sticker to get it "right". I'd venture that the GT-R is the best deal going for the performance/quality title for the dollar...

I'd love to see what dodge could do with a $282k street legal Viper (in comparison to the cost for a GT2RS). Can you say all carbon fiber, 2900lb, 800HP NA, sequential type transmission, aluminum frame, etc. etc. It would be unstoppable, assuming they could find a way to get the power to the ground. Maybe some 385 rear tires would assist.
But as mentioned, any true enthusiast appreciates all of these cars. They are all great in their own way. I think Porsche is the greatest all around sports car ever built. Most Viper guys will agree. I just wish people would give the Viper its due.

Absolutely not...these things are so raw and unrefined that they're scary to drive fast. If you value your health, safety and sanity then stay far away from these things.
With that said, I spotted one of the rarest examples of this car the other day, a ACR 1.33

I do have little experience in them. 3 medium length drives. So I've commented on the handling of the car. I've never tracked one and won't. No desire.
I will say that Vipers are cool looking. I also LOVE American cars more than most on this site. So I'm not generalizing. I've never generalized a car by it's maker. I'll drive anything that looks good and try it out. I did and I will still choose my Camaro everyday over it. That is my opinion tho.....Hani did ask for opinions

I also had a ZR1 on a truck coming my way when they finally produced white. I cancelled the car after reading and viewing a lot of reviews about it's driving / handling by several pro racers. I possibly should have kept it coming because I believe it's a HOT ars car. It just didn't get the reactions I expected by the Pro's....that being said I don't regret it at all my CGT arrived 2 weeks later so I filled the spot in the garage

I think you made a mistake with the ZR1 though.
