Mustang Shelby GT500 v. Boss 302
#11
I'm a twisty kind of guy. When I started doing track days, it was on bikes; which is where I learned to hang the rear out, enjoying the ride. Which is what attracted to me to a p-car on the track.
I like the more balanced approach of the Boss, and the fact that it is NA. But I also want a DD. Believe it or not, nav/audio is something I'm finding I really putting some weight on.
I like the notion of starting with the Boss. Lord knows if, I'd even get to the point of adding power. I'm going back and forth on doing track days anymore.
I wouldn't be averse to a Zo6, but sadly that whole bail out thing REALLY bothers me. I know it shouldn't, but it does.
See what I'm sayin... Malaise...
Ford GT for a daily? Oh how I wish that were realistic.

I am with you on the Z06.
There is a doctor in my town who DDs an FGT. Not too unrealistic...

A ZO6 is a MONSTER. My dad has one and it's a great DD. Tons of space, very simple yet comfortable interior, and great fuel economy. I don't care about any of those three things and neither does he but some guys do. All the cars you guys have mentioned are great but I'm a Chevy guy. No matter which one you pick you will be happy. The GT500 has less usable HP than a Boss. The Boss can properly plant it's power, something the GT500 cannot completely do. We all know what the ZO6 can do... You could also get a Corvette Grand Sport, it will beat a 302 and GT500 for the same price. Much more grip and balance. The Boss is a great car and I like it but I'm not a fan of the wild colors and crazy paint schemes. The GT500 is an extremely good looking car. A guy who lives by me has a black GT500 with silver stripes. Its gorgeous. At the end of the day this is my opinion. A GT500 will be a an awesome, very fast, good-looking Ford that will have a great presence. On the other hand the Boss 302 is arguably the most exotic car Ford has produced behind the Ford GT. It's a hard choice.

Here's how I'd rank the options:
1. Z06
2. BOSS 302
3. Vette Grand Sport
4. GT500
I'm a Ford guy but a used Z06 (you could even get one built prior to the bailout if it makes you feel better about it) is just too good of a deal to pass up.

Or get a nicely optioned GT and mod it a bit. That way you can still have the creature comforts of the GT500 but with the newer 5.0 engine. I read a comparison between the 5.0 and the GT500 engine in a Mustang mag and they basically said the new engine is light years ahead of the GT500s engine. You can make some pretty ridiculous power numbers with a blower on that 5.0. I think they said somewhere around 800 on an otherwise stock engine (with supporting mods).

the problem with gt500 is the weight and the suspension,if u change that, u change the game. but u guys do know the 2011 gt500 are only 3750lbs and pulls 1.0g..buy something u love, it doesnt matter what car u drive, its matter how you will drive.
